Story
Meet Dean Winchester!
Dean Winchester is a 3-month-old Mini Poodle puppy weighing 6 pounds, with stunning merle markings and an affectionate personality to match. Dean is a double merle, born as the result of breeding that prioritized coat color over health. Because of his genetics, he has approximately 50% vision loss and 50% hearing loss, but he doesn’t let those challenges hold him back. Dean is a happy, loving little guy who embraces life with enthusiasm and enjoys every opportunity to give and receive affection.
Since arriving in foster care, Dean has been learning what life as a cherished family pet is all about. He's doing well with potty training and does his business as soon as his paws hit the grass. At night, he sleeps peacefully in his puppy pen alongside his brother, Sam Winchester.
Like many puppies his age, Dean is teething and enjoys chewing, so he'll need plenty of safe, appropriate chew toys to keep him occupied and help him through this stage.
Dean enjoys the company of both people and other dogs and has been living successfully with canine companions of various ages and sizes. He gains confidence from having another dog around and would thrive in a home with a friendly, confident pup who can be both a playmate and a guide.
Because Dean is vision impaired, he will need a patient and understanding family committed to helping him navigate the world safely. Experience with hearing- or vision-impaired dogs is a bonus but not required for adopters willing to learn. A physically fenced yard is essential, and a home with another confident dog of similar size and energy level is strongly preferred.
Dean may see the world a little differently, but he has so much love to give. With the right family, this special little boy is sure to blossom into a devoted and wonderful companion.
Dean Winchester is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
