Story
Meet Sam Winchester! Sam Winchester is a 3-month-old Mini Poodle puppy weighing just 5 pounds, with a beautiful mostly white coat and an incredibly resilient personality. He is a double merle, born as the result of breeding that prioritized coat color over health. As a result, Sam has approximately 90% hearing loss and 90% vision loss. He approaches life with curiosity and joy, never letting his disabilities define him. He loves attention, enjoys being close to his people, and continues to show that he’s every bit as sweet and deserving as any puppy. This sweet little guy is learning what it means to be part of a loving home. He's doing great with potty training and will happily take care of business as soon as he hits the grass. At bedtime, Sam settles down peacefully in his puppy pen with his brother, Dean Winchester. Sam has a fun, determined personality and can be a bit stubborn—he knows what he wants and isn't shy about letting you know! Like any growing puppy, he's also teething and will need plenty of safe, appropriate chew toys to keep him busy and help protect household items. He loves being around other dogs and people and has been adjusting well to life with canine companions of all ages and sizes. Sam would do best in a home with a confident dog of similar size and energy level who can serve as both a friend and a guide. Because of his hearing and vision impairments, Sam needs a patient family that understands his special needs and is committed to helping him thrive. Experience with hearing- or vision-impaired dogs is a plus but isn't required for adopters who are willing to learn. A physically fenced yard is essential to help keep him safe while he explores and builds confidence. Sam may experience the world differently than most puppies, but his affectionate nature, resilience, and playful spirit make him an incredibly rewarding companion. He's ready to find a family that will embrace him for exactly who he is and give him the happy life he deserves. Sam Winchester is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Story
Meet Barkley! Barkley is a 5 year old, 15-lb mini poodle who loves the outdoors and playing with other dogs! Barkley was rescued from a puppy mill so he is finally getting the chance to learn what a good life is like! He is a very curious little guy who is constantly looking for something or someplace new to explore. He spends as much time as he can soaking up the sun and just chillin' on the back deck. He is very shy around people and sudden noises, so he will need a patient home willing to give him the time he needs to blossom. He can't wait to let his personality shine! We are still working on leash and potty training but he's smart and making progress everyday! Barkley is crate trained and sees it as his safe space. He is fostered with other dogs and does wonderfully with them. His favorite treats are chicken and scrambled eggs. Barkley would love a home with a fenced in yard and another dog so he can continue making progress. He wants nothing more than to be part of a family who will love him! Barkley is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Story
Meet Dean Winchester! Dean Winchester is a 3-month-old Mini Poodle puppy weighing 6 pounds, with stunning merle markings and an affectionate personality to match. Dean is a double merle, born as the result of breeding that prioritized coat color over health. Because of his genetics, he has approximately 50% vision loss and 50% hearing loss, but he doesn’t let those challenges hold him back. Dean is a happy, loving little guy who embraces life with enthusiasm and enjoys every opportunity to give and receive affection. Since arriving in foster care, Dean has been learning what life as a cherished family pet is all about. He's doing well with potty training and does his business as soon as his paws hit the grass. At night, he sleeps peacefully in his puppy pen alongside his brother, Sam Winchester. Like many puppies his age, Dean is teething and enjoys chewing, so he'll need plenty of safe, appropriate chew toys to keep him occupied and help him through this stage. Dean enjoys the company of both people and other dogs and has been living successfully with canine companions of various ages and sizes. He gains confidence from having another dog around and would thrive in a home with a friendly, confident pup who can be both a playmate and a guide. Because Dean is vision impaired, he will need a patient and understanding family committed to helping him navigate the world safely. Experience with hearing- or vision-impaired dogs is a bonus but not required for adopters willing to learn. A physically fenced yard is essential, and a home with another confident dog of similar size and energy level is strongly preferred. Dean may see the world a little differently, but he has so much love to give. With the right family, this special little boy is sure to blossom into a devoted and wonderful companion. Dean Winchester is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Meet Hershey! Hershey is a 5 year old, 9.5-lb Red mini poodle who loves attention and to be close to his people. His superpowers include being so cute, you just want to cuddle with him and love on him. He's so good at putting a smile on your face. He gets along great with other dogs but can sometimes be a little protective of his food. He loves being outside in the grass and playing with toys. Maybe he should have been called Rocket the way he runs around the house curious about everything around him. He wants to be wherever you are and will follow you everywhere. He is still learning to walk on a lease but is showing improvement. In terms of house training, Hershey uses pee pads but still has a way to go to be housebroken. We are optimistic that with time and patience, he will figure it out! He loves treats and goodies and is very food motivated! Some of his favorite things are pieces of chicken and hot dogs (really any kind of food!) and toys that move or roll around. If you're looking for a companion that loves keeping you company, is very playful with a lot of energy, the biggest attention hog, and the cutest ears ever, Hershey might be your perfect match. Hershey is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00.
