Story
My ex husband adopted him when he was 3 years old only but then he had some skin issues that we have to get him medication to help him and then my ex husband wanted to return him to the shelter but I stopped from doing it. Now that we got a divorce after how many years of being together. I had to move out of his house with my daughter but I could not bring my dog due to the apartment restrictions for pets. If only our new house allows us I will. And one thing too I am a single mom. The dad of my child does not want to give child support. He was nice to keep our dog but he told me that he is my dog and not his so I have to pay for everything that my dog needs. Financially right now I can’t do it anymore. I am really struggling as a single mom but I do not want to give him up at the shelter. He is such a good boy and is potty trained. He is older now and I just want a good person with a good heart to adopt and take good care of him. Please help a single mom and an older dog

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 21st from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, please submit an application in advance at https://www.dpsrescue.com/adopt/dog-application/. Adoption fee: $650 Chicken Soup Puppies – 10 weeks old   Born to Mama Chicken Soup, a sweet 10 lb Mini Schnauzer mix, the Chicken Soup puppies (affectionately known as the “Chix Soup” crew) are a delightful trio who are growing, learning, and thriving in foster care.   Their days start bright and early around 7:00 a.m., with breakfast served by 7:30. While they were initially skeptical of puppy kibble, they’ve happily decided it’s pretty great and now eat with enthusiasm. The puppies sleep and eat together in a pen and use potty pads consistently throughout the day, with impressive overnight habits for their age— usually waking just once during the night to use the pad before piling back together to sleep until morning.   After breakfast, the puppies enjoy playtime followed by a group nap. They love interactive play, especially tug with a favorite stuffie or chewing on a Nylabone. When the weather cooperates, they head outside to the backyard before lunch to run, chase each other, and play a very enthusiastic game of hide-and-seek. Lunch is around noon, followed by more play and another nap. Dinner is served around 5:00 p.m., and they tend to take their time with this meal before winding down for the evening. By nighttime, they’re happily exhausted, crashing in a cozy puppy pile until morning.   These puppies are being raised with structure, routine, and lots of positive interaction, setting them up to be wonderful companions in their future homes.   Noodle (Female) Noodle is the smallest of the litter. While she may be petite, she’s steadily building confidence and discovering that the world is a fun place to explore. It took her a bit of courage to conquer the back patio step, but once she did, her confidence blossomed. Initially happiest staying close to her siblings, Noodle has warmed up beautifully to one-on-one time with her foster family and even enjoys attention from the resident dogs. She is a true cuddler who loves belly rubs, and while she has a sweet, mellow personality, she’s beginning to find her voice and assert herself more each day.   Dumpling (Female) Dumpling has been the most curious and outgoing puppy from the start. She adores being held and thrives on attention, whether from people or her siblings. Dumpling is the clear leader of the Chix Soup puppies and was the first to show her brother and sister that it was okay to relax and have fun in new situations. Noodle and Matzo Ball happily follow her lead— if Dumpling decides it’s time to play, explore, or even nap on top of them, they’re perfectly content with that arrangement. Confident, affectionate, and full of personality, Dumpling knows exactly what she wants and usually gets it.   Matzo Ball (Male) Matzo Ball is the only boy in the bunch. He’s more outgoing than Noodle but a bit more reserved than Dumpling, often taking a little extra time to warm up to new people and situations. He’s a smart puppy who already understands “Go Potty” and does a great job using potty pads or going outside. Matzo Ball is very affectionate and loves playing chase with his sisters in the yard.   The Chicken Soup puppies are a wonderful mix of sweetness, playfulness, and personality, and they’re ready to bring warmth, joy, and plenty of puppy antics to their forever homes.February 12, 2026, 1:22 am

Adoption fee: $750 Chicken Soup is a tiny black Mini Schanuzer mix with a huge heart and a story that will make you root for her. This 3 year old, 10-lb Terrier mix came to us from the shelter with her nursing babies, and she took her role as a mama very seriously. Now that her puppies are weaned and ready for homes of their own, it’s finally Chickie’s turn to be someone’s cherished companion.   Chickie starts her day around 7 a.m. with a potty break, followed by breakfast at 9. It only took her a week to figure out that pottying is reserved for outdoors now that she is away from her babies, and she happily does her business in the yard.. She’s blossomed into a happy, easygoing little dog who settles nicely into a routine.   She loves being close to her people and prefers to keep tabs on her humans at all times. Chickie is incredibly affectionate and loves curling up next to everyone in the family, especially if belly rubs are involved. She also has a playful side and enjoys a good game of fetch. Her favorite toy is Lambchop, and she takes playtime very seriously— in the cutest way possible.   Chickie is respectful of the three dogs in her foster home and enjoys playing with them appropriately. She hasn’t been crated and doesn’t need it. When left alone, she may whine for about five minutes, then settles. On walks, she’s good on leash and enjoys getting out, though she will bark at other dogs she sees. She may also bark briefly at new people, but it doesn’t last long once she realizes there’s nothing to worry about.   She has no bad habits, is very smart, and is highly food motivated, making her a great candidate for learning tricks or continuing basic training. Chickie’s ideal home will happily lavish her with playtime, affection, and attention, and enjoy having a loyal little companion who wants to be part of everything.   After taking such good care of her babies, Chicken Soup is ready to be spoiled. She’s a sweet, playful, loving girl who will make a wonderful addition to the right home.February 13, 2026, 1:05 pm

Story
My name is Rusty and I’m looking for my perfect home. I’m a sweet and lovable pup, 8 years old and weigh 13.8 pounds, we think he is mixed with Schnauzer. I came to AFC in March of 2024. I came from a hoarder home where 87 dogs were living. I’ve had a long road learning how to be a normal dog but I’m very precious and sweet if you give me a little time to get to know you. If you sit on the floor with me, I will climb into your lap and cover you with snuggles. I imagine I would be just as happy in your cozy recliner. I may need some more house training but I do go in and out on command. When the staff says “Go Potty” I go right out the door. I can use the doggie door too. I’m not a real fan of baths and I hate the blow dryer but I tolerate it. Luckily my scruffy fur is pretty easy care. With a little patience and love, I will learn how to walk on a leash. I’m neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Finding a home with other dogs will definitely help Rusty continue to learn and thrive as a pampered pooch. We have a Facebook page and hope that you will “Like” us at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561870361467 see postings of other dogs. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. Story
Sparky is a delightful 1.5-year-old Cairn Terrier mix known for his energetic and lovable nature. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and a sparkly personality, making him a joy to be around. Sparky enjoys playing fetch, going on long walks, and spending quality time with his family. He is friendly and social, getting along well with other dogs and children aged 8 and up. As a great walking buddy, he loves outdoor activities and is mostly potty trained, though still improving. Sparky is learning commands like “sit” and “shake” and is very affectionate, enjoying kisses and snuggles. He is doing very well on a mild medication regimen for seizure prevention. While he still has some playful habits, such as nibbling fingers and occasionally ignoring commands, he is a quick learner with patience and training. Sparky is looking for a forever family to share his joyful moments with. Please complete our application on our website, 1luckydogrescue.org or contact Patricia 925-787-5825 for more information. It is helpful if information about the type of home that you will provide is included if emailing us.
