Story
Meet little Buddy! He is a 10 pound, approximately 4 year old, Schnauzer mix. After his loving owner passed away, Buddy was thrown into the backyard by relatives who did not care for him properly. Fortunately, he survived the hot Arkansas summer & was relinquished to rescue.  Our little Buddy is doing great in his foster home, enjoying playtime with 3 other small dogs.  He thoroughly enjoys toys, lounging at home, taking car rides, & playing outside. In his foster home, all dogs are fed seperately. However, Buddy does a great job waiting for treats when given alongside the other dogs. While Buddy does well with other small dogs, he is not a fan of cats. A feline-free home is best for this little guy. He has a history of nipping when playing with squeaky toys (if they are taken from him, he will try to keep them). Due to getting overstimulated, these toys are not recommended. Although a home without young children or grandchildren would be the ideal environment for Buddy, he would do well with adults of any age. Buddy gets along well with both men and women. This sweet little fella loves to be held & has the most playful personality! He is definitely a joy to love on. Also of note, Buddy had several teeth removed during his recent dental visit. His little tongue sticks out at times, especially while sleeping. When super relaxed, he sometimes looks like he has two little fangs! It is truly adorable to see! Buddy is crate-trained, does well with a harness, & although he did require the use of belly bands at first, he is now using the doggy door as well as potty pads in his foster home. His foster mom is available to answer any questions.  Little Buddy is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, & heartworm negative. His adoption fee for New England adopters is $500, which includes transport to New England & a health certificate from his veterinarian. His local adoption fee is $175 (no transportation or health certificate). ##2580863##

Story
This adorable duo were found in a very remote area in Arkansas. Unbelievably shy, they have gradually started coming out of their shell, and their personalities are beginning to blossom. Both are quick to smile and love the attention they are getting.  They are very affectionate and love belly rubs, squeaky toys, and chasing the other pups around the yard. Although they can be active, they also love to lay on the couch and watch television. They are not hyperactive at all. Both boys are crate trained and potty trained. They are young, so they still want to get into mischief such as chewing up socks. So before submitting an application, be aware that they are young and will need more training. Neither one has a dominant personality, they're both very low-key and get along great with other dogs and together. Both do very well while taking a bath. Benji is 2 pounds lighter than his brother Andy. They both weigh under 30 pounds and probably will not grow to be much larger. As much as we would love to see them go together as a bonnet pair, we realize that may not be possible. So we are willing to adopt them out separately. If someone would like to adopt them as a bonded pair, we will be happy to take off $150 off of the adoption fee. Currently they're being fostered on a farm in Arkansas. Transport is available to New England. Their adoption fee is $450 each, which includes the cost of transport. Andy and Benji are both heartworm negative, up-to-date on all core vaccinations, and microchipped. Both are afraid of kids and cats.  ##2559637##

Story
Schnauzer mix, 6 mos, 35 lbs.....very sweet > Shy at first and opens up quickly,he stays and plays around me. Will walk on leash following you everywhere you go. Gentle soul, great with other dogs > > > This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
This adorable little girl is Janice. She is a 5-year-old Miniature Schnauzer mix and weighs just 11 lbs. Janice is at a foster home, not at our shelter. Her foster says "Janice is housetrained, a great eater and sleeps through the night. Janice has a moderate energy level and is an excellent leash walker, truly one of the best we've had. Gentle and affectionate, she gets along well with similarly sized dogs and is happiest snuggled in her person's lap, soaking up belly rubs. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion who just wants to be close to you, Janice is your girl." Janice did fine when meeting cats so we expect she can be in a home with kitties. Janice is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy. Her adoption fee is $400. If you would like to meet/adopt Janice, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-online-adoption-application/. Email daws@daws.org with questions. Janice can't wait to meet you!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Sebastian! Sebastian is a handsome young Schnauzer mix with a big heart and even bigger energy! Born around May 6, 2024, and weighing approximately 30 pounds, this lovable boy is ready to start a new chapter after a rough beginning. Now he’s looking for an active family that will never leave him behind again. Sebastian is full of playful, puppy energy and thrives on companionship—he wants nothing more than to be near his people at all times. He can be vocal when separated or caged away from the family, simply because he loves being part of the action. Daily exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation will help him shine in his new home. Story
Meet Pixie — a tiny dynamo with a big personality! Pixie was found by a kind 97-year-old woman, and while we don’t know how long she lived on the streets, it’s clear this little girl has already overcome a lot. Pixie tested heartworm positive after being rescued and is bravely completing her treatment, which is expected to be finished in early February. Now about 2 years old, she’s looking ahead to a brighter future in a loving forever home. Pixie is a terrier–Chihuahua mix (we think!) who brings confidence, energy, and charm wherever she goes. She’s a high-energy, alpha female who knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to show it — a true “small but mighty” kind of girl. She does well with other dogs and currently lives in her foster home with three large dogs and two other small Chihuahuas. Pixie enjoys walks, doesn’t mind car rides, and once she feels comfortable, she’s perfectly happy entertaining herself with her chew toys. Like many confident little pups, Pixie is protective of her personal space and appreciates having a safe spot of her own. Her crate is her sanctuary, and she may guard her toys — so she’ll do best with an adopter who understands and respects boundaries. She can be vocal at times, as is typical of small dogs, and she makes a great little alert pup. Pixie is still working on potty training, and she’s very treat-motivated, which will help her continue learning and thriving. Pixie would do best with an experienced dog owner who appreciates a confident, spirited little companion with lots of personality. If you’re looking for a spunky, independent, and entertaining sidekick — Pixie might just be your girl. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:   Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!   Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation?
