Story
Hi, my name is Mugsy! I’m an adorable 8-year-old mixed-breed dog, and my rescue thinks I might have some Schnauzer in me with Shihtzu .: I’m absolutely adorable and incredibly sweet! weighing 14 pounds so the perfect size I’m currently in a foster home with other dogs, and I enjoy snuggling with my furry friends. I do best in a calm, quiet environment since too much activity can feel overwhelming for me. Don’t let my small size fool you—I take my job as a protector seriously! I’ll bark to let you know if someone is walking into the home, and I even act like I’m herding them, which sometimes surprises people. But deep down, I’m just making sure everything is in order! My foster mom says I’m a very good boy in the house—I’m non-destructive and love lounging on a comfy couch or dog bed. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will keep you company and keep an eye on things, I could be the perfect match! Story
Hi there, my name is Pony and I am a handsome little male Schnauzer mix, about 7.5 months old and weigh 13.5 lbs. I was found in Uvalde, Texas, after my sister and I were dumped on the street. That’s how it’s done in Texas. You don't want your dog or their puppies? You just dump them somewhere and drive away. Fortunately, there are some very good people working with dog rescues, and they will spend their time driving around picking us up. These days, we are safe and sound, staying in a foster home in San Antonio, fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and ready to get this show on the road and find forever families! I am a sweet little guy, overall shy and submissive until I’m feeling safe, but the next thing you know, I’m running zoomies around the yard and playing with toys and doggy friends. I LOVE to snuggle with my humans and get pets and back scratches, wagging and gazing at you lovingly every time you enter the room. I am well-behaved, rarely bark, already housebroken, and learning how fun a walk on a leash can be. My foster mom says I have a very sweet and gentle temperament, loving and kind, but scared of loud noises, and not cut out for big city life with all the noisy chaos. I’m just easy to love, easy to care for, and building confidence day by day! I hear many wonderful families on the East Coast would be happy to have a sweet little pup like me, so I can't wait to meet them and get my life started! Inquire about me today and bring me home! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Loreen needs a home out of the city. She is NOT a city girl. Burbs and beyond are ideal for her. She would also do great with another dog in the home :)  Our Foster Parent Says: "Loreen is a very sweet girl who still has her puppy moments. She has zoomies, especially when you come home after work of if you were just gone for 2 minutes. She recently discovered her love of toys and gathers each one of them into her bed. Unfortunately she hasn’t quite figured out toy vs non-toy yet but she’s easily redirected. Her bed is her safe space, especially when she’s has her anxious moments. When Loreen initially came to NYC from Tennessee she was very scared being in a city setting and shook for an entire week. She was then relocated to Long Island with me and the quiet environment has really let her true self show. She has slowly warmed up to being outside and now runs around happily in my yard and is learning to enjoy walks. Having another confident dog is definitely a plus! She often looks to my dog Kiba when she gets nervous and even follows him around sometimes. At home she is a cuddle bug and loves to be near you. She politely asks for airlifts onto the bed but occasionally gives a sassy bark or two to get your attention. She does well with baths and brushing, she’s also happy to be dressed! She’s very good with both of my cats and my dog, she’s very neutral around everyone and does not show any signs of guarding issues. She did well around a 3 year old boy and generally does well with everyone, she is occasionally anxious with new people. Overall she is a go with the flow type of girl and follows her people around." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Brownie - 3 yrs, 16 lbs, Schnauzer Mix, Neutered Our Team Says: This dog needs to be adopted out to a home in the burbs or beyond. Brownie is not a city boy.  This is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Story
Meet Anitta (we call her Bella, a nod to her Southern roots)This adorable girl is settling in slowly, but surely, and needs a home with a lot of patience and love. While still very timid and unsure, she is showing big signs of progress in just the few short days since her transport arrived on May 14, such as wagging her little tail while checking herself out in the mirror, playing with her squeaky and rope toys, and getting more comfortable with her new settings.Anitta needs a home where she will feel secure and who can help build her confidence when it comes to being around people, going outside for walks, potty training, etc. She is a hypoallergenic dog and doesn't shed much/at all.Once Anitta gains more confidence and comes out of her shell, I truly think she will be the most loveable and sweetest dog. Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 1Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2402421##
