Story
Hi, my name is Mugsy! I’m an adorable 8-year-old mixed-breed dog, and my rescue thinks I might have some Schnauzer in me with Shihtzu .: I’m absolutely adorable and incredibly sweet! weighing 14 pounds so the perfect size I’m currently in a foster home with other dogs, and I enjoy snuggling with my furry friends. I do best in a calm, quiet environment since too much activity can feel overwhelming for me. Don’t let my small size fool you—I take my job as a protector seriously! I’ll bark to let you know if someone is walking into the home, and I even act like I’m herding them, which sometimes surprises people. But deep down, I’m just making sure everything is in order! My foster mom says I’m a very good boy in the house—I’m non-destructive and love lounging on a comfy couch or dog bed. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will keep you company and keep an eye on things, I could be the perfect match! Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Loreen needs a home out of the city. She is NOT a city girl. Burbs and beyond are ideal for her. She would also do great with another dog in the home :)  Our Foster Parent Says: "Loreen is a sweet little cuddle bunny. It’s sad to see her so stressed out in the city. I take her out three times a day but she gets no better, the noises freak her out. However, I visited a family member in the suburbs for a few days and there was a marked change in her. She calmed quite a bit and took steps on the grass. She used her wee wee pads and slept at night waking once. I feel she will be fine in that environment. She loves her bed and blanket. No interest in toys and loves eating." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelLOWER: Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs Potty trained?Using pads in the city. We think she would have a much better time with this once she is out of the city.  Social with other dogs?Yup - fine to be in a home with another dog  Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Would be best in a home wihout young kids since she is so sensitive  Okay in the city?Needs to be out of the city!  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Cupcake is a 7-year-old, 15-pound male schnauzer mix from Texas! Cupcake is a gentle, playful, and smart pup.  He has adjusted very well during his time in the city. Cupcake enjoys burrowing into a pile of pillows, playing fetch, and snuggling up on the couch with his foster family. He is working on learning to “sit” on command and other obedience training. During his time with his foster family, he seems to be house trained. Cupcake is working on leash skills. He is a great walker but is easily spooked by loud noises or people walking by. He is not aggressive or reactive, just timid and a little fearful of the action of the city. His forever family will need to continue working with Cupcake to reinforce and advance the progress he’s been making. Cupcake has done well when left home alone during the day. After a morning walk, he likes to spend the day snoozing on the couch. He greets his foster parents with a smile and wagging tail when they return home.  He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found with his favorite stuffed brown bear.  Cupcake is looking for a medium active family. He appreciates downtime and active moments. He doesn’t require long walks, but gets bursts of energy indoors and loves to play. He would do best as a solo dog, since he is timid around other dogs.  Cupcake has not been exposed to children and although he is shy, we think he would do ok with kids if they can match his gentle nature. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply for Cupcake, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2362823##
