Story
Meet Arin (Schnauzer × Maltese Mix | 3 Years Old | 7.8kg / 35 cm tall / Spayed Female)   Arin is a gentle, soft-hearted little girl who is learning what it means to be safe She’s the perfect small companion with a calm and quiet presence.   Her Story Arin was rescued from a severe animal hoarding situation involving over 230 dogs in Seoul. The city supported spay surgery and vaccinations, and she is now under the care of AKR and international adoption support.   Despite her past, Arin has kept her gentle spirit.   Personality & Socialization   With People She may be slightly shy at first, but offer a treat and she warms up quickly. Once she knows you, she will: • Come over to greet you • Lean her little body against you • Rub her bottom on you for attention • Even bark softly to say “notice me!”   She has no preference between men or women. She can be picked up by placing an arm under her belly, and once bonded, she’ll even roll over to show her tummy.   With Other Dogs • She politely greets unfamiliar dogs • Prefers quiet independence rather than active play • Not reactive, even if another dog provokes her • Not particularly afraid of large dogs   Because she comes from a hoarding background, she may initially feel more secure in a home where another calm dog is present. If adopted as an only dog, early separation-anxiety prevention and confidence building will be important.   With Cats Shows curiosity during walks but follows handler guidance easily.     Energy & Lifestyle • Energy Level: Low • Loves resting and staying calm • Walks nicely on leash once settled • Not sensitive to car noise • No pulling once guided   She does bark when she wants something (mild demand barking), but she does not guard food from people or dogs.   Crate & Training • Calm in a kennel • Nervous about getting into the car (needs to be lifted in) • Uses both pee pads indoors and outdoor potty     Ideal Home Arin would thrive in: • A calm household • Someone patient and gentle • A home that understands she may need time to fully blossom • Possibly with another calm dog for reassurance   She is not a high-maintenance dog. She is simply a quiet soul who needs stability and kindness.   If you’re looking for a soft, steady companion who will slowly attach her whole heart to you, Arin may be your girl Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Loreen needs a home out of the city. She is NOT a city girl. Burbs and beyond are ideal for her. She would also do great with another dog in the home :)  Our Foster Parent Says: "Loreen is a very sweet girl who still has her puppy moments. She has zoomies, especially when you come home after work of if you were just gone for 2 minutes. She recently discovered her love of toys and gathers each one of them into her bed. Unfortunately she hasn’t quite figured out toy vs non-toy yet but she’s easily redirected. Her bed is her safe space, especially when she’s has her anxious moments. When Loreen initially came to NYC from Tennessee she was very scared being in a city setting and shook for an entire week. She was then relocated to Long Island with me and the quiet environment has really let her true self show. She has slowly warmed up to being outside and now runs around happily in my yard and is learning to enjoy walks. Having another confident dog is definitely a plus! She often looks to my dog Kiba when she gets nervous and even follows him around sometimes. At home she is a cuddle bug and loves to be near you. She politely asks for airlifts onto the bed but occasionally gives a sassy bark or two to get your attention. She does well with baths and brushing, she’s also happy to be dressed! She’s very good with both of my cats and my dog, she’s very neutral around everyone and does not show any signs of guarding issues. She did well around a 3 year old boy and generally does well with everyone, she is occasionally anxious with new people. Overall she is a go with the flow type of girl and follows her people around." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Hi there, I'm Latte. I'm a 15 pound 3 year old Schnazuer/Terrier mix that loves being around other dogs. While my background is a bit of a mystery, I know my future looks bright! The volunteers at the rescue, and most especially my foster mom, are being so patient with me while I try to figure out this world outside of a kennel. They all thought it would take me a long time to trust others and warm up....but nope, I'm being super brave and trying really hard every day. My foster mom even said "I'm amazed at how far she's come in a short period of time." Everyone says dogs are so resilient and I think they must be talking about me! I'm walking really well on a leash, even in a big pack of dogs. I'm so proud of myself! I'm playing with the other dogs at my foster home too. I mean, I really know how to make dog friends. I'm enjoying getting to know my foster mom and I'm even sleeping on the floor near her bed and taking treats from her hand....And I only met her a few weeks ago. I know it may sound like bragging, but well, I am! I'm a really fun dude that can't wait to show off all my new found doggie skills in my forever home. So who is ready to give me a chance and watch me shine?! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.
