Story
Buster is a 2 year old Schnauzer mix.  This little guy was rescued from the Shelter and was absolutely petrified of just about everything.  He has settled in nicely at his foster home, but we know he truly is a ladies man because he prefers them over men.   He seems to be fearful of men and we will never know the cause of that but what we do know is with time and patience this will get better for Buster.  He just needs to know he's loved now, and no one is going to harm him.  He is anxious, but is doing so much better trusting every day.  Buster would love a home where there is not alot of crazy activity, he is too anxious for children so a home with adults only.  We are working diligently on his housetraining, but in time, right now we just want Buster to know he's safe and can trust people (more so men) again.  Time. love and patience goes a long way and in the end you will have this loving companion in Buster. Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##2538832##

Story
Hi there, my name is Maddy, and my whole life has turned around! I am a 12-year-old, 16.4-pound, female Schnauzer mix, dumped on the street in San Antonio, Texas, as though I were a piece of garbage, and I was a wreck! Dirty and badly matted, with missing fur from years of chronic itching from fleas, my skin was yeasty, my toenails were a mile long, I smelled awful, I had dry eye and conjunctivitis, cataracts, still needed to be spayed, appearing to have had many many litters of puppies throught the years, needed some mammary tumors, and various lumps and bumps removed, and I was DESPERATE for a dental cleaning with lots of extractions. Initially, it seemed hopeless, like I had too many problems, but that didn't deter 4 Little Paws Rescue from being sure that I could have a wonderful, healthy, and happy future!!! And they were right. Some Veterinary visits, surgery, medicated baths, proper nutrition, some eye drops and medications, a loving and patient foster mom, and most recently, a fresh new haircut, and look at me now! I’m ready to take the Northeast by storm as the prettiest little senior lady looking for a wonderful forever home! I am a sweet and friendly, easygoing lady, great with people, and I co-exist nicely with other dogs, but my heart belongs to humans. I am as affectionate as they come, loving and gentle, as though I have never had love before, and will follow you everywhere. I’m in a doggy bed beneath your desk when you are working from home. I’m snuggled beside you in bed each night, sometimes with my arm on yours. I am extremely sweet and snuggly and truly deserve some spoiling and pampering. My playful days are behind me, and I am mostly into relaxing, but my ears perk up when I hear a squeaky toy. I don't play with the toys, but I love to explore the yard, go for walks, and am always excited to go with you for a ride in the car. I am totally well-behaved, no chewing or digging, fully housebroken, rarely bark, and although most of my teeth were removed, I still love eating my kibble. I am a senior dog lover's dream, perfect, pretty, and oh so loving! I will require some regular grooming to keep me looking my best. Inquire about me today! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Meet Lola! This lovely 12-year-old, 15 lb Schnauzer mix is the definition of calm, sweet, and easygoing. Lola is a gentle soul who enjoys the simple things in life — a cozy nap, a nice walk, and sitting beside her person while taking in the world around her. Lola gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and people of all ages, including kids and the elderly. She’s fully house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is an overall low-maintenance companion. While she’s not big on toys or cuddling, she loves being near you — the perfect buddy for quiet nights at home or relaxing afternoons in the park. She travels well (she’s happy to be carried in a bag!), rarely barks, and has an easy temperament that makes her a dream companion. Lola doesn’t need much exercise, but she does enjoy her strolls and lounging outdoors — especially when the sun’s out. If you’re looking for a mellow, loving, and loyal friend to share your days with, Lola is your girl. Story
Patches - 1 year, 14lbs, Schnauzer, Neutered DOB 1/6/24 - we know this pup's birthdate, pretty rare This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from the South or Puerto Rico ; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Loreen needs a home out of the city. She is NOT a city girl. Burbs and beyond are ideal for her. She would also do great with another dog in the home :)  Our Foster Parent Says: "Loreen is a very sweet girl who still has her puppy moments. She has zoomies, especially when you come home after work of if you were just gone for 2 minutes. She recently discovered her love of toys and gathers each one of them into her bed. Unfortunately she hasn’t quite figured out toy vs non-toy yet but she’s easily redirected. Her bed is her safe space, especially when she’s has her anxious moments. When Loreen initially came to NYC from Tennessee she was very scared being in a city setting and shook for an entire week. She was then relocated to Long Island with me and the quiet environment has really let her true self show. She has slowly warmed up to being outside and now runs around happily in my yard and is learning to enjoy walks. Having another confident dog is definitely a plus! She often looks to my dog Kiba when she gets nervous and even follows him around sometimes. At home she is a cuddle bug and loves to be near you. She politely asks for airlifts onto the bed but occasionally gives a sassy bark or two to get your attention. She does well with baths and brushing, she’s also happy to be dressed! She’s very good with both of my cats and my dog, she’s very neutral around everyone and does not show any signs of guarding issues. She did well around a 3 year old boy and generally does well with everyone, she is occasionally anxious with new people. Overall she is a go with the flow type of girl and follows her people around." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them.
