Story
Meet Guiness — a gentle little guy who is discovering just how good it feels to be loved. Guinness is a sweet 3-year-old Miniature Schnauzer mix who weighs just 15 pounds and until recently, his world was very small — he spent his life living outdoors in an 8x10 pen with four other dogs. Now that he’s in a foster home, he’s getting his first real taste of family life, and he seems pretty convinced that this is exactly where he belongs. Guinness is happiest when he’s close to his people. He loves to cuddle, follows his foster family from room to room, and can usually be found within arm’s reach — or, even better, curled up in someone’s lap soaking up all the affection he missed before. He’s a quiet, gentle, and curious little fellow who enjoys exploring his new surroundings and taking in everything going on around him. He was initially a little guarded around the other dogs in his foster home, which isn’t surprising given his past, but he is already becoming more comfortable and getting to know them. Guinness has recently been neutered and groomed, and underneath all that formerly overgrown fur was the softest little dog. He hasn’t discovered the joys of toys yet, but plenty are available for him whenever he decides he’s ready to try them. Because living inside a home appears to be new for Guinness, he is still learning some of the basics. He is not fully housebroken yet, but he is making progress with a consistent routine, crate training, and belly bands. He sleeps in his crate at night and stays there when his foster family leaves the house. He may cry for a little while when first crated, but he does settle down. What Guinness seems to want most isn’t complicated: a safe home, a patient person, and someone who will let him stay close. After spending so much of his life on the outside looking in, this sweet little dog is ready to learn what it means to truly belong to a family. Guinness doesn’t need a perfect home.
