Story
We have a transport leaving either on July 31st, or August 9th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Winston to our trip for the right family 😊
Meet Winston
There are certain dogs that seem to understand the world around them in a way that’s difficult to explain. Winston is one of those dogs.
One question we receive often is whether Winston’s tail has been docked. The answer is no. Winston has proudly kept his beautiful natural tail, and we absolutely love seeing him express himself with it every day. While tail docking has historically been common within the Miniature Schnauzer breed, we believe there is something incredibly special about allowing a dog to remain exactly as nature intended. His tail has become part of his unique personality, wagging enthusiastically to greet those he loves and adding even more character to this already wonderful little boy.
At just 2 years old, this handsome Miniature Schnauzer has already discovered that the greatest joy in life isn’t found in constant excitement, it’s found simply being beside the people he loves. Whether you’re making dinner, working around the house, watching television, or heading out for an afternoon adventure, Winston is happiest when he gets to experience life alongside you.
His name, Winston, means “joyful stone” or “friend’s town,” symbolizing strength, loyalty, and dependability. It couldn’t suit him more perfectly. Winston is the kind of companion who quietly becomes your best friend without ever asking for anything more than your love in return.
Fully grown and weighing just over 13 pounds, Winston is the perfect size to fit into nearly any lifestyle. Small enough to travel comfortably, yet sturdy enough to join you on neighborhood walks, weekend getaways, hikes, coffee runs, or simply curl up beside you after a long day.
Winston is fully house trained and understands to go outside throughout the day when asked. He is also crate trained and sleeps peacefully in his crate overnight or whenever his family steps away from home.
He walks beautifully on leash, rides exceptionally well in the car, and truly enjoys experiencing new places with his people. Winston is wonderful with other dogs and would be equally happy as your one-and-only companion or as part of a family with canine siblings.
Like many Miniature Schnauzers, Winston is naturally attentive to his surroundings and will let you know when someone unfamiliar approaches your home, making him an excellent little watchdog without being excessive.
Today, Winston officially completed his neuter and received a dental cleaning before being given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian. He will come home fully vaccinated, microchipped, and having already received the veterinary care that so many newly adopted dogs still require.
More importantly, Winston hasn’t simply been waiting for a family during his time with us, he has been living as part of ours. He has spent months learning the routines of home life, strengthening his house manners, continuing his training, and simply being loved. Those things cannot be administered in a veterinary clinic, yet they are often what prepare a dog most for a successful future.
We believe every dog deserves more than a home, they deserve a family that understands the incredible gift of sharing life with a loyal companion. Our hope is that Winston finds exactly that.
Adoption Fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/winston-1
Winston’s adoption fee helps cover his neuter, dental cleaning, complete veterinary care, vaccinations, microchip, and the months of individualized care, training, socialization, and love he has received while preparing for the next chapter of his life.
