Story
Pending adoption We have a transport leaving in May 23rd 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Nala to our trip for the right family 😊 Nala is not the kind of dog who rushes into the center of everything… she stands just slightly to the side at first, quietly taking it all in. Born on 10/14/24, Nala is a smaller miniature schnauzer who is already fully grown weighing right under 12 lbs. She carries herself with a calm, thoughtful presence that feels incredibly grounding. There’s something very intentional about the way she moves through the world—nothing rushed, nothing chaotic… just quiet awareness. Nala is what we lovingly call an “observer.” She likes to take her time getting to know both people and other animals—not out of fear, but out of discernment. She wants to feel safe. She wants to understand her surroundings. And once she decides you’re hers… you’ll feel it in a way that’s incredibly special. Because when Nala loves you, she really loves you. Nala came to us after her previous owner made the difficult but loving decision to return to school. With her new schedule, she entrusted Nala to her mother’s care, but living in a very small apartment made it impossible to give Nala the space, time, and life she truly deserves. With her daughter’s full support, she reached out to us to help place Nala in a home where she can fully thrive—and that kind of selfless love is something we honor deeply. She is wonderful with other dogs and does great with cats as well. She is also very good with people and children, especially in a home that understands her need for a gentle introduction and a little patience in the beginning. She doesn’t need pressure—she just needs space to come forward on her own terms. Nala is beautifully balanced in her temperament. She has that classic schnauzer awareness and will occasionally bark to alert you, but she is not excessive. Overall, she is incredibly calm, relaxed, and easy to have in the home. She is fully house trained and does very well with a routine. She will go out every few hours when asked and understands exactly what is expected of her, making her a very easy transition into her next home. Nala is crate trained, which for us means she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate and settles in comfortably when it’s time to rest. She truly enjoys her walks and has started to embrace the world outside of the home in such a beautiful way. You can see her confidence growing as she realizes there is so much more to explore, and she’s beginning to genuinely enjoy those new experiences. She is wonderful on road trips of any length and travels with ease, making her an incredible companion whether you’re heading out for a quick drive or a longer journey. Nala is also great at the groomer and handles grooming like a pro, which is so important for her breed and coat maintenance. She is spayed, had a dental cleaning & polish, and has been thoroughly vetted and cleared by our veterinarian for adoption. She will go home current on vaccines, microchipped, and with a full veterinary exam 💗. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_nala which reflects the care she has received while with us. Nala is not looking for a loud, fast-paced connection. She is looking for something real. For someone who understands that trust is built, not rushed… that the quiet ones often have the deepest love to give… and that the most meaningful bonds are the ones that unfold over time. With Nala, you won’t just gain a dog. You’ll gain a companion who chose you just as much as you chose her. 💛

Story
Hi, I’m CJ — a 12-year-old mini-Australian Shepherd with a fluffy brown-and-white coat, one eye, zero teeth, and a whole lot of love to give. I’m a professional lap dog and my favorite hobbies include following my person everywhere, asking for belly rubs, snuggling on the couch, supervising neighborhood activity from the window, and making sure those suspicious Amazon drivers know I’m watching them. I’m housetrained, food motivated, and love going on walks and adventures. I can climb stairs, hop in and out of the car on my own, and I’m always excited when my people want to go somewhere. Even at 12 years old, I still have a playful little spark in me. I absolutely adore people and really just want someone who will love me as much as I’ll love them back. If you sit down, there’s a very good chance I’ll end up in your lap. I would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but I just LOVE cats. Small kids make me a little nervous, so I’d probably do best in a calmer home where I can relax and soak up attention. Oh, and about my eye — yes, I recently had one removed due to a painful injury. Honestly, I think it gives me character. I’m still happy, loving, and very ready for my next chapter. If you’re looking for a sweet little shadow who wants belly rubs, companionship, and a cozy place to snuggle, I might just be your guy.
