Story
Achilles is looking for a very specific home. Please read his profile carefully to ensure he would be a good fit prior to applying. Animal Profile: Achilles is a 3.5-year-old, 18 lb male miniature Schnauzer. He was surrendered to one of our rescue partners in California because his family was moving and could not take him with them. This little guy is full of personality, sort of like a grumpy old man. If he had a voice, he'd probably be yelling “Get off my lawn!”  But once you get to know him, he can be quite snuggly and affectionate. He won't roll over for just anyone though — you have to earn his respect. Achilles needs a confident person who is capable of telling him to cut the crap. He's currently thriving in a foster home with structure and routine, balanced training and will require the same in his forever home. Foster Update: Achilles is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He’s working on commands like ‘place’, threshold manners, and loose leash walking. He is very food motivated, and that helps.  Achilles needs a confident handler who can provide him with consistency on boundaries and acceptable behavior.  He needs slow introductions to new people and dogs -- he is not a dog that will do well at a dog park. Achilles would do best as an only dog or with a balanced female dog. Adopter Profile: -Single Family dwelling with securely fenced yard; no condos or apartments. -No children, no exceptions. -Balanced training experience. -No cats or small animals. Balanced female dogs considered. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in California and is available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. December 2, 2023, 11:28 am

WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Astro - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The word Astro means 'pertaining to stars or celestial bodies'. I'm certainly looking to be a star in my family's life. A big shining star, someone to bring a bright spot to your days! With my sweet nature and lovin life attitude that'd be ME your beacon for lots of love and oh yeah cuddles. I'm around 2 years old and let me tell you what a great age that is. I'm well beyond the puppy destructive stage but still playful and ready at a drop of the hat to have a blast going on lots of action packed adventures. I'm fully grown so what you see is what you get. No guess work on how big I'll get or what that adorable puppy will look like. Still adorable comes to mind!!! ;) At my adult weight of 20ish lbs I'm also a great size. Big enough for all those said adventures but small enough that I won't hog the whole couch or bed. I want to make sure there is always room for the both of us as I don't want to miss out on ANY of my cuddle time! I am house and crate trained which is a great bonus for my new family. I also get along with the other foster pups here at the rescue. I wouldn't mind at all if this family deal came with a sibling that I could have fun in the yard stealing...err, did I say that out loud? I really meant sharing toys, really!! I do great with people tall or small but I haven't met that strange creature y'all call a cat yet. With my mixed hairytage I will need regular grooming to keep me tangle free and looking my dapper self! I would also need a few brushings a couple times a week but it shouldn't take too long and will still leave lots of extra time for the both of us in our 'spoil me rotten' time. My favoritest time, you and me time! Do you need a beacon of light in your life? A bright Astro to show you the way to having the time of your life with...yes, ME? Just fill out my adoption application and I'll do the rest!!

A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. Ben was born in the rescue. We bid on his mum who was being used as a breeding machine & who is listed. Diana had a horrible start to life in a puppy mill but went to auction to be sold & we could not leave her there. Once we rescued her we got her an ultrasound & she was pregnant with 3 puppies. Unfortunately Ben is the survivor so we view the very fun & friendly Ben as a miracle puppy. This boy is definitely one little fun character & ready for his very own home to cherish him & love him. Ben’s foster mum & dad said, Ben is the sweetest, funniest little man. He sometimes thinks he is bigger than he is. He will stand up for himself against other dogs. They said he is a fast little guy when runs & plays with his foster siblings & he will play with anyone. He adores when his foster dad picks him up & carry’s him as he will fall asleep in his arms. But he is oh so sweet & cuddly & looks at you with those beautiful eye once you pick him up & hold him. Ben is a wonderful eater & is not shy about eating & is absolutely obsessed with food & when it’s time to eat he will let you n ow he is so excited. In his foster home he eats clean, meaning fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins & supplements. He is also obsessed with his treats. He adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets & does enjoy playing with stuffed toys. He will also want to sleep in bed with you or with his dogs friends snuggled up. He would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. Ben is a great car rider & has been in the car many times. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lad only. We are also looking for a forever home for Ben where someone is home during the day or he can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Ben is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him & never give up on him. Ben has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in his foster home & he is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. He absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Ben is roughly 4 lbs & he is 6 months old. He is a miniature schnauzer, what he is mixed with we don’t know? He was neutered by laser by our wonderful vets & is microchipped. Ben is up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Ben has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not him around small children so we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Ben was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Ben’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Ben potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Ben & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Ben who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Ben. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. Ben has an adoption fee of $1650 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay via Zelle, PayPal, or cash. Makes you want to break just down & just cry thinking about Lucy, how she ended up in a slaughterhouse for human consumption & yes you did read that correctly in China. What we do know is she was pulled out of there by our outstanding Chinese rescuer just in time. It’s absolutely soul destroying to think about the horrific situation he ended up in. Working with one of our truly devoted, dedicated & absolutely outstanding Chinese rescuers she rescued Lucy & many others for us. Without this beloved rescuer going in & getting Lucy out, her fate was a torturous death. She transferred Lucy to her own rescue & covid had hit & the waiting began. Along with Lucy & many other sweet souls he got well & they waited to come to the US. This became a very extremely expensive situation with covid. We were finally able to bring everyone back through cargo which is an astronomical expense per dog, but we believe every sweet soul such as Lucy & her friends deserves to be loved & cherished & given the chance to have a wonderful life. Now Lucy is looking for a special family to cherish her & be patient with her & remember what this beautiful soul has been through & a family that meets all her needs. Lucy was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely thankful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough. Lucy was bought back to the USA where she is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. This tiny little lady is such a sweetheart of a little miss. She is just so happy & grateful all the time. Clearly in China they were vicious to our sweetheart Lucy. It is so unfathomable to think that anyone could be so cruel to our beautiful Lucy, but they were. She is such a lovely, soft & gentle little lady. She maybe a little shy at first with some people. Our vets said she was such a good girl while she was with them & so easy & friendly. She almost lost his his precious life in China & was so very close & deserves the very best loving forever home. From her pictures you can see she loves life & wants to be held & loved & give love. She has enjoyed eating since he has been here in the US, but let’s face it, being fed the way we are feeding her is all new to her & just being fed all the time is new to her. We have to be careful with Lucy to not over feed her as her belly can back with fecis if she is over fed. We first thought Lucy was pregnant after several weeks of having her & got x-rays done on her to make sure she wasn’t & her belly was full of fecis from over eating & our vets thought perhaps she had a hiatal hernia & needed to see a specialist who we took her to see & no, she just needs to not over eat. The specialist did find that Lucy has a small involuntary head movement probably from being hit in China to breed. She also said that she had a stomach severely distended with food, she suspected that she had the appearance of a hernia induced by food bloat. Our vet also discovered that poor Lucy had been debarked, the heinous act of taking away her beautiful voice in China. Lucy has done amazing walking on a harness & leash & done so well with us so far but would still need continued work. She gets very excited when on her walks. Lucy is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding. Lucy adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing her, touching her, she loves it all & being picked up & cuddled. She also does amazing & being groomed. She also does extremely well being touched in general. We have had her with many breeds of dogs & she has done well with different size dogs & adores dogs so we are only looking for a home for her with another dog in the home she can play with. Lucy also did so well with our vets when she went for her dental & spay. She likes to be wherever you are. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Lucy & we have been excited to change her world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. Lucy has learnt to ride in the car & does well in the car & has so much excitement for a good car ride & gets excited each time we put him in the car to go with us. She is such an amazing, fun happy little miss. With Lucy we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lady only, as she has spent who knows how long of her previous life in a crate. We are also looking for a forever home for Lucy where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. Lucy is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be very patient with her & understanding. Lucy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & she is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company so we are looking for a home where she can be with another dog or other dogs in the home. We currently have her with other dogs. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Lucy’s new forever home. Lucy is now roughly 12.6 lbs he is 7 years old & perhaps a miniture schnauzer, what she is mixed with we are not sure? We took Lucy to a specialist to make sure she did not have a hiatal hernia which she did not. Unfortunately she was debarked in China. She is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets, she had blood work done along with x-rays. She had a dental scale, polish, along with dental x-rays, gum surgery, had a total of 14 teeth removed, had 2 incisors removed, 4 molars minor removed, 4 modular intermediate removed & 3 premolar minor removed, she is heart worm negative, she is microchipped, up to date on her shots, had her shots including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Lucy with bringing her to the US with her travel airfare costs, alone bringing her through cargo, without anything else then on top of that paying for her medical care & boarding fees, blood work, x-rays, including a dental/scale & polish. Spay by laser, shots, microchip, etc, than her adoption fee comes close to covering. Lucy has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have not had her around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats. But it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Lucy was conceived so we do not know who her parents were, nor her true birth date & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Lucy’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Lucy potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained.
