Story
Butterbean is our 12-year-old Yorkie mix. This sweet boy was recently surrendered to the shelter by the only owner he’s ever known — the same person who adopted him from us as a puppy 12 years ago. Thankfully, his microchip brought him back into our care, and we were able to rescue him once again. Butterbean is as mellow and loving as they come. He did have a UTI, but he’s been on his meds and is doing much better. He’s a little “super-sized” at 18 pounds, but not overweight — just a solid little guy. He sleeps in the bed with me, knows to go outside to potty, and has only had a couple of accidents while adjusting. Butterbean does best with someone who is home quite a bit, as he forms a strong bond with his person. He will need a secure backyard, and it’s important to know that if he were to get loose, he will usually only return to the person he’s bonded with — otherwise, he may run off. For the right person, that bond is incredibly special. He still has plenty of good years ahead and so much love to give. We got him in November 2015. Barks a lot. Very affectionate and anxious. Doesn’t like to be left alone. He would sleep on top of the couch, bed, or under the covers. Even just on the couch I put a blanket on just so he could go under. Loves playing with toys. He likes to run really fast outside in circles. He also could sleep for most of the day. Hasn’t really interacted with other dogs so not sure. Potty training is the biggest issue. For the most part he stands by the door to be let out or on a potty pad next to the door if im not here. But he also just pees in random spots. I don’t know why. The corners of furniture which was my biggest issue. I had to be aware and try to get things that have legs or are metal / easy to clean
