Story
Lucille is 100% a human person….well, not really. Her DNA test lists her as: 55% Mountain Cur, 23% Australian Shephard, 12% Golden Retriever and 10% Chow Chow. This 2-year-old good girl is very smart and always wants to be by her human’s side. She curls up next to you to watch tv or take a nap - so you will never be alone. Always sweet and loyal, Lucille loves endless belly rubs, cuddles and snuggling. She will push her head into your chest and melt against you. She loves car rides and would make an excellent travel companion. Lucille is a very active dog that loves zoomies, playing fetch with tennis balls, going on walks, and car rides. She is a perfect companion on long road trips or exploring the outdoors. She is a wiggle-butt fanatic when excited (especially for treats). Lucille needs plenty of playtime in a fenced-in yard to burn off energy. She occasionally jumps to say hello and is still learning her manners. She will do best in a home with older children or adults who can handle her energy levels, but she does balance it out as a huge napper! She loves to jump to say hello and maybe too much energy for smaller children. She is terrific with all dogs and 100% door-to-door potty trained (she will go to the door to be let out). Lucille would do best in a home where she gets plenty of attention and love. She will provide a lifetime of tail wags and unconditional love. This sweetheart cannot wait to find her furrever home-could that be yours?

Story
Oscar is a sweet and gentle boy, who is a bit shy at first but once he gets to know his people he sure does know how to have fun! Oscar and his brother Rocky have been with us for a while because they are shy with new people so they don't 'show well' when people first meet them. Oscar and Rocky get to visit the home of one of the Ark volunteers occasionally and they have a blast playing their hearts out so we know 100% for sure he’s a great boy who will let his playful & happy self out with a family!! Oscar really does love people so we know he'll make a great companion for someone willing to give him a little time to adjust and settle in to a new home. *The Adoption fee for Oscar is reduced/covered by adoption sponsorship donations Oscar says: When I arrived at the Ark, we played the 'guess what breed I am' game, and the most guesses were that I'm a Cur mix, but I know that's just a guess - I know what I am, I'm a Purebred Mix-Breed!! And if you don't know what a Cur is - you sure have been missing out, good thing you found me because we're awesome dogs!! Check this out (from Google): Are cur dogs good family pets? Cur: Dog Breed Characteristics & Care Their energy, intelligence, and tenacity make them loyal workers and companions, while their desire to bond with humans makes them great family dogs. **Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs. September 7, 2024, 10:05 am

Story
🐾 Meet Atlas – Our Longest-Waiting Adventurer 🐾 Atlas is a 4-year-old Catahoula mix who has been in the rescue program for almost 4 years, and we truly don’t understand how this incredible dog is still waiting for his forever home. Atlas is great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. He is cat-friendly, but he can be a bit much for them since he always wants to play—so he’d do best in a cat-free home or one with a very tolerant, confident cat. This guy is active, athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Walks, outings, and staying busy are his jam, so he’ll need an active family who can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Atlas does have some separation anxiety, but it is very manageable and continues to improve with routine and structure. And here’s the really cool part—Atlas has competed in THREE OneWorld Canine Biathlons and absolutely crushed it, even placing 2nd in one of his races! 🏅 This dog has both brains and brawn. 📍 Fostered in Huntsville, AL 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Cats with conditions 🏃 Adventure-ready & athletic Atlas has waited long enough. He’s loyal, driven, and ready to be someone’s best adventure buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who will truly be your partner in life, Atlas is your guy. 👉 Apply to adopt at www.forrescue.net Rescue: Friends of Rescue 💙
