Story
Georgy Porgy is a sweet 1-year-old, 9 lb Pekingese mix looking for his forever home! He was discovered in Cudahy, CA, wandering as a stray with two other dogs. A Good Samaritan in the neighborhood noticed the trio but was only able to safely catch two of them. He took them in, posted them on Nextdoor in hopes of locating an owner, and cared for them for about three months while waiting for someone to come forward. Sadly, no one ever did. A local rescuer who heard their story stepped in, connected them with Shelter Hope, and brought them to Thousand Oaks, where they are now safe and ready for their next chapter. Georgy Porgy is an affectionate, curious, and gentle little dog with a soft, sensitive nature. He may be initially skittish in new situations and will need a little time to fully warm up, and he can be wary of cats at first. He is good with other dogs and has a calm, friendly demeanor. He is also good with kids, especially those who are respectful and gentle with his small size and shy personality. He is still settling in, but every day he is becoming more trusting and confident. His personality is starting to shine through more as he decompresses and realizes he is safe. He is a very sweet little guy who is steadily blossoming into his best self. Now neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, Georgy is ready for his second chance! ----- Looking to Adopt? Step 1) Apply Online Submit a rescue questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Story
Winky is a gentle little Pekingese mix with a heart full of love and a story that makes him all the more special. After losing one eye and becoming blind in the other, Winky is bravely learning how to navigate the world again—and he’s doing it with quiet resilience and a whole lot of sweetness. He’s a low-energy companion who would much rather be curled up in your arms than running laps around the yard. In fact, cuddling is his absolute favorite activity—he truly lives for being close to his person. Winky can be a little shy when meeting new people but with a bit of patience and a gentle approach, he warms up and settles in. Given his blindness, he just needs a little extra time to feel safe and understand his surroundings. On walks, he’s incredibly easy to handle—he takes things nice and slow, stopping to sniff and take in the world at his own pace. While Winky does well passing other dogs on walks and is generally unbothered by them outside, he will probably do best as the only dog in the household. Winky would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can continue to adjust and build trust. In return, he’ll give you endless affection, quiet companionship, and the kind of bond that only a truly special dog can offer. If you’re looking for a loving, low-key cuddle buddy who just wants to be close to you, Winky might be your perfect match.

Story
Hi! I'm Olandria! Nice to meet you! I am an 8 year old 11 lb little floofy mix. best guess-Pek/Tib spaniel? Your guess is as good as mine! I am good with other dogs and I am house broken-I know how to use the doggie door. I take gabapentin for some back pain and it helps so much! I also had a cherry eye removed ( Cherry eye in dogs, also known as prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid, occurs when the gland within the third eyelid pops out of its normal position. This gland, which contributes to tear production, becomes visible as a reddish, swollen mass in the corner of the eye). Now you can see my beautiful eyes! A home with no young kids would be preferable. Wanna be besties? Please note: All of our dogs reside in private foster homes. Once you submit an application, our volunteer adoption team will screen it; if your application is a potential match for a specific dog, it will be forwarded to the foster parent, who will contact you to answer questions and schedule a meet-and-greet. Please be aware that we do not transport our dogs. If you are applying from out of state, we require that you travel to Los Angeles to meet us and ensure the dog returns home with you via a car or an in-cabin flight. https://www.apurposefulrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

Story
Meet Bebot! 🐾 The little shadow you didn’t know you needed. This 12-year-old Pomeranian/Pekingese mix was found as a stray and made his way to Harbor Shelter in San Pedro before landing in a loving foster home, where he’s been making up for lost time in the snuggle department. His foster describes him as sweet, friendly, and endearingly devoted. If you’re sitting, he’s happy to curl up nearby—and if you head to another room, he’d love to tag along. Despite his age, Bebot still has a surprising amount of pep. He enjoys short walks and does well on leash, and every now and then he breaks into a delightful round of zoomies. Most of the time, though, he’s all about the simple pleasures: cozy naps, cuddles, and a bit of gentle play. He’s friendly and easygoing with both familiar faces and new friends, greeting everyone with the cheerful smile his foster family adores. Bebot is still working on his house-training and will benefit from a consistent routine. He thrives with a little extra guidance and supervision as he continues to build good habits. He forms strong bonds with his people and feels most comfortable when he can be close by. Like many devoted companions, he may need a bit of reassurance when left alone, especially at first, but settles best in a home where someone is around much of the day. During his recent dental procedure, it was thoughtfully determined that removing his remaining teeth would best support his overall health and comfort. He’s now happily toothless—which only adds to his charm and makes his little expressions even more irresistible. His ideal home is with someone who works from home or is around most of the time and is looking for a constant, loving companion. If you’re hoping for a loyal little dog who will adore being by your side, Bebot is your boy. If you are interested in adopting, head to hitlivingfoundation.org/adopt to apply ✨ Est DOB: 03/28/2014 Adoption Fee: $350 P.S. If you spot a few not-so-perfect teefs in his photos, don’t worry, those were taken before his dental glow up ✨🦷

Story
Zoey is a sweetheart through and through. She truly is a fluffy 4-legged angel in disguise. Unfortunately, I’m a young adult trying to make it without any support and I’m struggling with a very busy schedule. Due to this, I simply don’t have time or energy to give Zoey the life that she deserves. If you or anyone you know would like to invite Zoey into your family, please reach out. Thank you ❤️
