Story
Winky is a gentle little Pekingese mix with a heart full of love and a story that makes him all the more special. After losing one eye and becoming blind in the other, Winky is bravely learning how to navigate the world again—and he’s doing it with quiet resilience and a whole lot of sweetness. He’s a low-energy companion who would much rather be curled up in your arms than running laps around the yard. In fact, cuddling is his absolute favorite activity—he truly lives for being close to his person. Winky can be a little shy when meeting new people but with a bit of patience and a gentle approach, he warms up and settles in. Given his blindness, he just needs a little extra time to feel safe and understand his surroundings. On walks, he’s incredibly easy to handle—he takes things nice and slow, stopping to sniff and take in the world at his own pace. While Winky does well passing other dogs on walks and is generally unbothered by them outside, he will probably do best as the only dog in the household. Winky would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can continue to adjust and build trust. In return, he’ll give you endless affection, quiet companionship, and the kind of bond that only a truly special dog can offer. If you’re looking for a loving, low-key cuddle buddy who just wants to be close to you, Winky might be your perfect match.

Story
Hi! I'm Olandria! Nice to meet you! I am an 8 year old 11 lb little floofy mix. best guess-Pek/Tib spaniel? Your guess is as good as mine! I am good with other dogs and I am house broken-I know how to use the doggie door. I take gabapentin for some back pain and it helps so much! I also had a cherry eye removed ( Cherry eye in dogs, also known as prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid, occurs when the gland within the third eyelid pops out of its normal position. This gland, which contributes to tear production, becomes visible as a reddish, swollen mass in the corner of the eye). Now you can see my beautiful eyes! A home with no young kids would be preferable. Wanna be besties? Please note: All of our dogs reside in private foster homes. Once you submit an application, our volunteer adoption team will screen it; if your application is a potential match for a specific dog, it will be forwarded to the foster parent, who will contact you to answer questions and schedule a meet-and-greet. Please be aware that we do not transport our dogs. If you are applying from out of state, we require that you travel to Los Angeles to meet us and ensure the dog returns home with you via a car or an in-cabin flight. https://www.apurposefulrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

Story
At just 6 months old, Millie is a little bundle of happiness with a heart as big as her adorable Pekingese Mix ears! This sweet girl was found exploring near the open desert, but those days of wandering are behind her—she's ready to find a loving family to call her own. Millie is wonderful with kids, gets along great with other dogs, and has all the fun, curious energy you'd expect from a puppy. She loves chasing toys, making new friends, sniffing every interesting corner on her walks, and curling up for cozy cuddle sessions after a day of adventures. Her playful personality and affectionate nature make her a joy to be around. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who will keep you smiling and fill your home with love and laughter, Millie is ready to steal your heart and become your new best friend. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Please find our application at lovejoyfoundation.org when you come to an event please bring that filled out in hand with you. You can find our application at Lovejoyfoundation.org. Please note a Petfinder and Adoptapet Inquiry is not applying for the dog. You have to come to the event or send an email inquiry to our records email.
