Her previous owners swear that she is a purebred Lhasa Apso, but we think she looks more Shih Tzu! Whatever her breed, at 10 yrs old she lost her 94 yr old mom, and we were asked to help find her a new home. Sammi is about 12 lbs, tri colored, adorable and a bit shell shocked, as you can imagine. Her mom was a senior when she brought her home as a puppy and Sammi has lived a very sheltered life. Now, she loves her walks, does her business outside, and we have been introducing her to new things! She is slowly coming around and showing us her personality. All that being said, Samantha is a very affectionate dog once she realizes you are her friend. Her favorite places are either sleeping behind your head in bed, hiding in the pillows on the couch and crawling on your chest to listen to your heart beat!! She can be a little sassy if you do something she doesn’t like, but she is more reactive than anything! She came to us with a horrible ear infection and was very protective of her ears. Now, she loves it when you rub them because it makes her feel better! She also had a UTI, which we have been treating. For a senior, she has a lot of pep to her step and while she doesn’t really play with toys and she sleeps a lot, she is beginning to come to us, eat new foods, follow us around and be a dog! She makes hilarious grunting sounds when you give her attention and watching her blossom is really a treat. Sammi really needs a new person to love and give her the attention she needs. She will return it 10x once she knows you are her new family. She would be great in an active, mature home. Remember, small dogs live long lives…well into their teens. Sammi still has a lot of life in her and we are here to make sure she gets to enjoy it!! Could that be with you? Our website is updated daily. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET HARLEY....and ruff and tumble, ready for prime time, rockin roller, who is ready to get on his bike and jam!!! Harley is a very playful 2-3 yr old, creamy white, 16 lb Lhasa Maltese? He came from Lancaster Shelter and was briefly exposed to parvo; fortunately, never got it. We have had to wait to neuter him, so he won't be available until after June 30, but he will be at adoptions on June 28. Once again, with all the unaltered animals around, we are seeing mixes we have no clue what they are! What we know about Harley is he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He might get a little protective when he sees other dogs or people, but only a gentle sniff and introduction and he's everyones BFF! When Harley greets you in the morning, he can almost bowl you over with active jumps and kisses and thanks for being my family first thing in the morning! He's a great eater and is more than excited to take his walk, then eat, then play, then cuddle and start all over again! He's been great in the potty training department he waits until you walk him to do his business! He will even sometimes do #2 on command or maybe thats just a coincidence? Whatever, hes regular and consistent and a pleasure to walk. We believe Harley would be best suited in an active family, with kids over 8 yrs old and at least one other dog! He would not thrive in a senior home. If you don't have another dog, and you have the time and patience for a very playful pup who needs to learn what to do with toys and how to play and fetch like a gentleman, then Harleys your guy. One thing: Harley will go into nirvana if you rub his belly while he is cuddling with you one the couch! We can only speak the very highest of this wonderful pup...and he's quiet!! This bundle of joy as his fosters call him, is a 16 lb, 4-5 yr old, golden/tan mix....were not quite sure but he has a coat a little like a Pomeranian and a Lhasa-ish face!! He does shed just a little, but he is soft and silky and just a great little man. What his temporary home tells us: Dawson is a happy, playful sweetheart who brightens every playgroup! He's friendly with everyone, loves a good game and never says no to affection. Handsome, gentle and full of joy. What we learned about him when he first arrived is generally the same! He loves attention and especially belly rubs. Not sure what to do with toys but was getting the hang of it. He'd chase but forget why he did that!! Good on walks, does his business but will use a pp pad if need be. One thing....he would much prefer having you and/or another canine around all the time. He doesn't like being alone! All dogs need acclimation period to a new environment The ideal home for Dawson would be one where he gets a lot of attention. He is a kissy boy, who wants to tell you how much he appreciates you having him join your family and will always let you know he loves you! Our website is updated daily. FINNEAS….(Finn or Finny to his close friends and family), and a kinder, handsomer, sweeter tri colored, 2-3 yr old, 18 lb, Lhasa Apso you won’t find anywhere!! We have absolutely fallen hard for this wonderful boy! Finneas is kissy, loving, attentive, “probably” potty trained (no guarantees at your house), quiet, cuddly and affectionate. We can’t say enough about this loverboy. Finneas came to us from the Palmdale Animal Shelter with a horrible case of pneumonia and was sick for almost a month. Despite being very ill, he ate like a champ, snuggled like a baby and went for walks like he was 100% healthy…except for that horrible cough 🙁 Now that he has been groomed and is all better, Finneas is acting like a puppy! Loves to play, chase after toys (but we’re working on what to do once he gets them!) and engage with others — whether they are people or other dogs. Finny loves everyone! He is well socialized and his favorite thing to do with you is get his belly rubbed!! That, and show you all his appreciation for caring for him. This is a special boy and we really want him to go to a special home. IDEALLY, that would be a family with kids over 5+, a home with a yard, parents who work from home and/or don’t leave him alone for hours…and a canine companion who he can fun around with. We can dream!! This isn’t the only scenario we would consider, but two out of three elements would be very appreciated. He doesn’t have separation anxiety, but he is the kind of dog you want to be with you to go on errands…to sports events…brunch on Sunday…he’s your “go to” guy. So Cal adoption only. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET APOLLO…..a stunning, 7 yr old (DOB October, 2018), 15 lb, tan, Lhasa Apso X, who was given up because his family lost their housing during government shut down and were evicted! They provided all positive info about him, and it’s clear they loved him dearly. However, he was purchased at a pet store as a “mini Shih Tzu.” WRONG!!! This boy may not be 100% Lhasa (we never promote as purebred ), but he looks more like a Lhasa than a Shih Tzu and isn’t a “mini” — he’s just the right size. Apollo was shut down when he arrived; but now, when we come home, he gets really excited and circles to express his glee! He came with a horrible case of kennel cough (for 3 weeks) and a double eye infection. He took his meds like a champ, but he did not enjoy drops put in his eyes because they sting and he let us know! But, for that reason we think he would be better off in an adult home. He was great with the ointment and he’s now better, but he does have slight dry eye and will need daily ointment. He gives gentle kisses to let you know he loves you anyway! If you put him in your arms and love him….he’s all yours. We believe a family who understands the Lhasa personality will adore Apollo, who is a lover, not a fighter! Apollo is a good eater! He loves to be loved and really needs extra TLC right now. Seems to be potty trained, but we never guarantee. At our house Apollo was great with other dogs and loves to play. The ideal home for him would either be a calm but active environment where he gets oodles of attention (doesn’t like being left alone) or one with another single dog (maybe female) he can bond with. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET ZEKE….a very handsome, tan/black, 4 yr old, 16.5 lb Lhasa Apso mix, who is as loving as they come. When he arrived, matted to the bone, it was clear he’d never worn a collar, never walked on a leash and was very insecure. Only here a short time, we discovered he’s very smart and wants to please! This gentleman is the kind of pup who bonds to his people quickly and hard! He absolutely lights up when you walk through the door and will greet you with pure joy literally jumping up and down with glee! He has a happy spirit and loves to have fun — whether it’s playing with his toys, fetching a ball (and actually bringing it back) or “running” on leash during your walk, he’s always up for keeping the action going! Zeke thrives outdoors and would be happiest in a home where there is a yard where he can get plenty of exercise and fresh air. He is a testament to how far a rescue dog can come in a short period of time with direction, love and affection….but patience is also a virtue! Zeke is wonderful with most other dogs, great with kids and friendly with adults — an all-around easy companion. While he’s good with everyone, we think he’d rather have you all to himself. He plays hard, and wants to play with everyone even if they don’t want to play with him, so if he has a companion, they must be a balance of energy. He will jump up on you when he is excited and gives you lots and lots of kisses to let you know you have made his day! And when the energy winds down, Zeke is a true lap dog. He adores belly rubs, staying close and soaking up all the affection he can get. If he can find the space, he will jump up on your bed/couch/chair and lean into you or on top of you to let you know he’s there! He does have a few bad habits we are breaking him of….he loves garbage, so keep it out of the way! While he will love going everywhere with you — including restaurant outings, sports events with the kids, and just a Sunday at the beach….initially he does get a little nervous in the car. With patience and reassurance, he continues to build confidence and loves the ride. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, playful companion who will be just as happy running by your side as he is curled up in your lap, Zeke might just be your perfect match.
