Story
Ink Blot is a 13-year-old exotic shorthair with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This sweet boy came to us after his previous owners left him outside and no longer wanted him. When he came to us, he was skin and bones. Ink Blot was not made for a life outdoors. Despite this rough beginning, Ink Blot has shown nothing but resilience and love. With his adorable smooshed face and plush coat, Ink Blot embodies everything we love about Exotic Shorthairs. Because of his breed and age, we are hoping to find someone with experience in caring for brachycephalic (flat-faced) cats who understands his unique needs.  At 13, Ink Blot is ready for a retirement filled with soft beds, gentle head scratches, and a safe, loving home where he can spend the rest of his days being pampered. He’s calm and affectionate, but is playing with the other cats in his foster home. He's also done well around small dogs.    If you’re looking to make a difference in the life of a senior cat who still has so much love to give, Ink Blot is ready to meet you. Let’s give this sweet boy the happy ending he deserves! If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. Please read the Adoption Process steps below. Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Story
Harry was born September 2024, and is now 8 months old. We bought Harry from a family friend. He is litter box trained, and has had his first round of shots. He can be quite skiddish but likes to play with a furry wand toy. He normally doesn’t like to cuddle or be petted for long. He is on a wet food diet only, he won’t eat dry food. He is very small and only weighs about 4 pounds. He is currently undergoing flea treatment. We are unable to keep him due to landlord issues.

Story
Garfield was born in September 2022. He is in need of a new home that can dedicate the time to brush him and keep him clean. He has been around dogs, cats, and kids. He is very sweet and quiet. Litterbox trained. No health conditions/concerns at this time. He does have some mattes and may require a lion cut. Persians require daily brushing and cleaning of their eyes. Please be willing to commit to this if you are interested.

Story
Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Please keep an eye on your spam folder. Emailed responses often end up in spam folders!  Don’t let the name fool you — this Armadillo isn’t armored, but he is wrapped in a long coat of floof! He’s the quintessential derpy kitten: full of personality, constantly sporting a hilariously blank stare, and always ready to chase a toy (or his siblings). Armadillo is easygoing and endlessly entertaining, and would likely do well in any home environment given proper time and introductions.  Armadillo would love to go to a forever home with one of his sisters!  Armadillo is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, she is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria.
