Meet Thunder! She is a 4 month old grey dilute torbie, and she needs the help of a kind, patient, cat-savvy human. Thunder came from the great outdoors along with her siblings, and while they love cats, they are still quite unsure about people.Thunder and her friends are not your typical friendly, outgoing kittens. These cuties are what we call `Spirit Kittens`. You approach them, and she will run to the other side of her enclosure & stare at you, maybe give a little hiss. We are able to pet her when she is eating a yummy treat, but she does not love it just yet.These kittens need a person that will spend some quiet time sitting with them, offering treats, and letting them take their time to come out of their shell. Another huge helper is another friendly, outgoing, playful cat to help show them the ropes on being a cat!The truth is, Spirit Kittens may never fully bloom into sweet, friendly, outgoing cats. But, a lot of them do take big, positive steps forward once given a safe space.Due to this shyer personality, we are not placing Thunder or her siblings with kids. She needs a teens+ or adult only home with cat experience, and we are requiring the adopter have a friendly, outgoing, playful cat at home to help them feel comfortable.Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). This cat was found on Marginal St in Lowell MA on 9/9/26. If you think you know this cat, please email info@lowellhumanesociety.org or call 978-452-7781 and reference their A#. This cat is injured & will stay with us for medical evaluation and treatment.

This pet is on a WUO quarantine and not currently eligible for adoption. Once the quarantine is up, this pet will be available for adoption. If you are interested in submitting an inquiry, the pet cannot be put on hold, but you may submit your interest to be notified when ready.This pet is receiving all necessary medical treatment while in our care. What the heck is a WUO? WUO stands for Wound of Unknown Origin. In Massachusetts, a domestic animal (like a dog or cat) with a wound of unknown origin (presumed to be from another animal) is generally subject to a quarantine period of FOUR MONTHS to observe for signs of rabies. During that time the pet must be kept in strict confinement and only rabies vaccinated personnel are allowed contact. We still give them love every day and enrichment to keep their brains working, they also get out of cage time to stretch their legs. Four months of care adds up- can you help?
