Story
Meet Diesel, a handsome Plott Hound mix with a big, beefy build and an even bigger heart for the people he loves. While his exact mix is unknown (some guess Great Dane or Boxer), what is clear is that he bonds deeply with his humans. In a calm, adult-only home, Diesel is incredibly loving, cuddly, and devoted. He thrives on close companionship, enjoys being near his people, and is naturally protective in a gentle, loyal way. He is vocal and expressive—he likes to “talk” and let you know how he is feeling, which is part of his charm once you understand him. Recent life changes, including the arrival of a baby, have proven overwhelming for him, and we want to ensure everyone’s safety and happiness. He would do best in a quiet home with experienced adult owners and no small children, other dogs, or cats—where he can relax and truly be himself again. This decision comes from love, not lack of it. Our hope is to find him a peaceful home where he can feel cherished for the sweet dog he is.

Story
Name: Hayden Age: 2 years Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog Size: 35 lbs Special Needs: Heartworm positive. Will need treatment. Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Meet Hayden, a 2-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog with striking looks and a lively, loyal spirit. Found as a stray in Long Beach Mississippi he was brought to the Humane Society of South Mississippi. He’s smart, alert, and loves having a job to do — whether that’s exploring the outdoors, playing with purpose, or learning something new. He did seem a little reserved and shy at first, but with a little time and meeting new people he has become more comfortable with his surroundings and has opened up a bit. Hayden thrives on activity and engagement, making him a great match for an adopter who enjoys adventure and understands working-breed energy. He bonds closely with his people and brings both enthusiasm and devotion to the relationship. He does fine around other dogs. He is a little unsure at first but once he has a few minutes to warm up he starts to run around and play with the other dog. If you’re looking for a bright, athletic companion with personality and drive, Hayden is ready to put his heart to work for his forever family. Hayden is up to date on vaccines and prevention. He will be neutered upon adoption and even though he has tested positive for heartworms we have no doubt that with proper treatment he can live out the rest of his long life happy and healthy. Hayden's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Hayden please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog).
