Story
Maggie is a beautiful Plott Hound mix who has come an incredibly long way in foster care and continues to impress everyone she meets. She is a deeply affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her people. In foster care, she has become increasingly cuddly and confident, happily seeking out attention and affection. When invited, she will come over for kisses and even wrap her paws around her favorite people in the sweetest way. Maggie loves spending time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, watching birds, and exploring the yard. In a secure area, she enjoys off-leash time and reliably returns to the door when she is ready to come inside. She also has a playful side and loves chasing sticks and interacting with her people. One of her proudest accomplishments is her dedication to training. She recently graduated from a beginner obedience class and did so well that her trainer highly praised her progress. Maggie is now enrolled in an advanced training program with additional obedience classes and private sessions to keep building her skills and confidence. She is house trained, crate trained, and settles nicely into a household routine. She enjoys being part of the family while also being able to relax independently when needed. Because of her prey drive, Maggie is not a fit for homes with cats or small animals. She can also be reactive to some small dogs and will need thoughtful introductions to other dogs. With proper management and continued training, she has shown that she is capable of making excellent progress. Maggie is looking for an adopter who will appreciate her intelligence, loyalty, and loving personality while continuing the training and structure that have helped her thrive. She has already come so far, and she continues to blossom every day. To meet Maggie or learn more about her, email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com.

Story
SENIOR DOG ALERT — Meet Jordi 🐾 Jordi was picked up as a stray after what looks like a long time surviving on his own. He’s extremely skinny at only around 40–45 lbs, and based on his condition and appearance, our best guess is that he’s a senior — likely around 10 years old (Just estimates of course). He also has a longer nose than a typical bully breed, so he’s definitely some kind of mix, so we think he may have some Plott Hound. Despite everything he’s been through, he is incredibly sweet. ❤️🐾He’s low energy, calm, curious, and mostly just likes to quietly sniff around and rest. He keeps his kennel pretty clean and doesn’t bark much. The only thing we’ve really noticed is he gets very eager taking treats — which honestly makes sense considering how hungry he must have been. He doesn't react much to or have much interest in other dogs, but hasn't reacted to any of them negatively. He just seems more focused on finally being safe and comfortable. Can't say we blame him. Jordi deserves to spend his senior years knowing kindness, full meals, soft blankets, and love.
