Meet Maggie, a gentle and loving Plott Hound mix who’s been through a lot but still has the kindest soul. At about 3 years old, Maggie is sweet, docile, and laid-back — the kind of dog who just wants a soft bed, kind words, and someone to love her. She’s easygoing and quiet, happy to curl up near you and soak in affection. Maggie has a large tumor that needs to be removed, but the wonderful news is that her surgery is fully sponsored! What she needs most now is a forever home where she can recover surrounded by comfort and care. This girl has so much love left to give, and she deserves the chance to heal and start her next chapter in a home, not a kennel. If you can open your heart and home to help Maggie please reach out. She is a 7 year old, brindle colored Pit Hound, named Bruin, that is in need of a loving home. She’s a very sweet girl that needs lots of cuddles. She’s up to date with her medical and she comes with a plethora of accessories (cage, food bin, food/water bowl table, t-shirts, hair and nail clippers, toys and more). She’s house trained, chipped, & spayed. She is an obedient pup but can be distracted easily. She’s not social with other dogs, but could be with training. We got her for our daughter (only child), 5 years ago when the family was going through a lot. She was a great comfort and companion for my daughter. Now our daughter is in college and I’m soon to be hospitalized for a kidney transplant. This will be an extenuating journey and time for me and my husband, so we need to re-home Bruin quickly.

DRACO - 8 years old, 50 pounds, house trained, good with kids, no other pets, very sweet and loving, nervous with new males. Losing your home is not only devastating to the humans but to the pets as well. This is how Draco ended up at VBACAC. He had been with his last family half his life and now lives behind bars through no fault of his own. He is a sweet, friendly boy. He's house trained and good with kids. He can get along with other dogs, well, let's say he can tolerate other dogs as long as they listen to him. We've had him in our shelter playgroup and he just doesn't seem to want to engage with the other dogs. If a dog gets near him or tries to engage with him, he barks and backs the dog up. So, an only dog home might be best but walking around your neighborhood or going on a hike should be pleasant without worrying about seeing other dogs. Field trip report! “ We enjoyed a beautiful trail run/walk and watch the human kiddos play at the park. He needs a little more leash training, but he is amazing! He’s so sweet, funny, and has a lot of fun personality. He has so much energy and LOVES being on the trails! He’s amazing with my kids and I could tell he was concerned about them from the short amount of time we had with him (loyalty). He could even do great with a runner/hiker. He likes to mark and does a funny kick back every time that had us all laughing every-time he did it.
