Meet Espresso Splash of Cream! Good things take time to brew, and Espresso is proof of that — this 4-month-old Pointer/Labrador Retriever mix is one of the four adorable pups from the "Café" litter, and he's exactly the kind of dog who reveals himself slowly, in the best way. He's dressed in a beautiful white coat covered in the cutest tan details: a striking patch around his right eye, little cow-like spots scattered across his back, and a dipped tail that ties his whole one-of-a-kind look together. Of all the Café puppies, Espresso is the more reserved and thoughtful one. While some of his siblings might dive headfirst into the middle of everything, Espresso prefers to take it all in first. You'll often find him quietly sniffing around a new environment, carefully checking things out, and giving himself a little time to decide that everything is okay before he settles in. It's not shyness so much as a gentle, observant nature — he just likes to look before he leaps. Espresso has also grown up alongside his three Café Litter siblings, giving him wonderful early socialization with other young puppies. He's accustomed to playing, exploring, and sharing his world with his brothers and sister, and continued positive socialization will help his confidence keep growing. Like any puppy his age, Espresso is still early in his training journey. His forever family should be ready to continue working on potty training, crate training, leash skills, basic commands, and positive socialization with patience and consistency as he grows. We would like them to find a home together, however, they can be separated as long as they have another confident dog in the home. They are currently at Paws in Prison. This is a wonderful program where dogs are paired with inmate trainers. They are the prison for 8 weeks. The inmate trainers work with the dogs everyday on basic training (house training, crate training, leash walking, etc) as well as basic commands. Sometimes even a few tricks! We hope to have homes lined up for these girls once they graduate in mid October.  They are such sweet babies. I do not know their breed, but my guess would be bird dog mix or maybe Catahoula mix. I rescued them out of the woods when I was driving by and saw them run into a drainage culvert. I stopped and they ran into the woods. They want so badly to be loved, but until they were rescued, the only love they had known was from each other. They wag their tails and belly crawl to me, but they are still a bit timid. You can tell they have experienced a lot of neglect and possibly abuse in their lives. But they love to be held and loved on. They are just very insecure. Freckles and Confetti are crate trained and they are very well behaved when crated. No accidents and no crying. They feel safe in their crate and don't mind it at all. They are about 5 months old and each weigh between 20-25 lbs, with Freckles being slightly larger. They will probably be in the 50-60 lbs range once grown. They are not high energy puppies. They play with each other some but mostly they cuddle and have a lower energy level for young puppies. They are precious little souls that need patient and understanding families who will show them that there are kind people in the world. Despite their fears and insecurities, they have never growled or acted aggressively in any way, they want so desperately to be loved on. They have made great progress here at their foster home and they will continue to gain confidence at Paws in Prison and once they are adopted in loving homes. If someone would like to adopt both of them, we will happily reduce fees to help with the cost of adopting the 2 of them together. Meet Nellie! 💕🐾 Nellie is a sweet, affectionate girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She absolutely loves people and has a way of turning just about everyone she meets into a new friend. She may give a little bark when someone approaches, but once she realizes they’re there to say hello, she’s all about the pets and attention. Nellie would be a wonderful match for an active person or family who enjoys being outside. She has plenty of energy, strong athletic legs, and would likely make an amazing walking, hiking, or even running buddy. She’s still working on her leash manners, but she’s already showing that she can stay close and listen with some guidance. She’s also incredibly food-motivated, which makes training with her both fun and rewarding. In just a couple of weeks with her foster, Nellie has already made huge progress with crate training. She now settles much more calmly and will even choose to go lie in her crate on her own during the day. Nellie can be a little unsure about certain new experiences, especially things like the bath hose, but with patience, encouragement, and a little coaxing, she continues to improve. She’s the kind of dog who just needs someone willing to show her that the world is a safe and exciting place. After spending some time without the exercise and attention she deserved, Nellie is more than ready for her fresh start. She’s loving, playful, active, eager to learn, and full of potential. He is confident, affectionate, wildly playful, toy obsessed, people loving, dog loving, and at the sweet age where he is under the assumption that personal boundaries are more of a suggestion than a rule. Jesse throws his whole heart, and occasionally his whole body, into having fun and sharing love. Underneath that enthusiasm is a smart, treat-motivated boy with a great settle. Jesse LOVES to play. He is very dog friendly and confidently meets new dogs, quickly moving from introductions to the much more important business of PLAY! His style is rough, tumble, physical and enthusiastic, complete with some vocal commentary. He shares toys well, happily shares attention from his people, and genuinely enjoys having canine friends around. Jesse would love another playful dog who enjoys a physical playstyle but is also confident enough to set boundaries with him. He needs a buddy who can participate in the fun while occasionally informing Jesse that even recess has rules. Jesse's fun-time mentality is best suited for larger small dogs, 25 lbs + and a cat-free home. People, however, are Jesse’s jam. He is confident and loving with new people, happily accepts all the belly rubs and will roll right onto his back the moment he meets you! Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Scarlet lives in a foster home with another dog sister. They get along great playing and taking rests. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low.
