When I was born, I assure you I didn't want to grow up to be left in a high kill shelter, however, that is what happened to me. LUCKILY, the fates (and some awesome rescue folks) aligned and saved me from certain death and brought me to a safe place where I can find a REAL family and a REAL home. Let me tell you about myself, I am cute, happy, loving, nervous at times, but have the long legs of a pointer! I have lots of energy for running, jumping and playing and I have the handsome chiseled jaw that most actors would love to have! Now if you need a great looking chap, look my way!!! Birdie is a sweet name for this sweet and spicy girl! She is a pointer mix and definitely has the drive of a pointer, in a smaller body :) I found myself recently, wandering around in S Texas looking for a loving family to save me! Luckily I found just the right foster family! Now, I TRY not to chase the chickens on their mini farm...however, haven't you heard?? Chicken is the first white meat and I just like it! SoOOOOO, needless to say, Birdie is not good with prey type animals in the house- cats, chickens, cute birds, lizards, etc etc.... Birdie does have some AMAZING qualities as well.... I LOVE KIDS!!! (there I said it), I would be and ideal family dog. I love other playful dogs as well so that is no problem to meld into a famil with their other dog. I am a "petite flower" about 40# of total love who is waiting for you to step up and save my life!! APPLY NOW!! ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!! Our dogs lives' depend on it!! Story
Welcome Plexie to CCPAL Rescue Foster program. Plexie is a 2.5 year old Pointer/Lab is our best guess. She has beautiful markings and a lower coat and isn’t a big shedder. She is being fostered by a good Samaritan. She has 10 beautiful and very robust puppies. She is a great momma dog and she is very sweet to all people. She is friendly with the teen children in the home where she is now staying. She is good with other dogs and nice to strangers. She was relatively quiet at the Rescue and she is good on a leash. She is good in a car ride and knows sit command. She is also potty trained, vaccinated, healthy and ready for her forever home. She is a nice sized dog at about 65 pounds. We will spay her as soon as she fully dries up and she will be ready for her forever home. She did a good job when we clipped her toenails and didn’t have any reaction. She will make a great companion pet for a family. We think she will be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is very tolerant to all the puppies and we honestly cannot see any negative thing about this amazing dog. She is currently in Texas and she can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org/ See her cute video.

Story
Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is.  She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom.  This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved.  Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all.  They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE.  Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families.  Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned.  We know that she loves other dogs!  She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”.  They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together.  Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play.  She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed.  Cora relates to people and loves them.  She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being.  We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share.  This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way.  We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.  If you really want to adopt a “rescued dog” then Cora is the total definition of a rescued puppy! If you are interested in making her your own please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com!!! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 5, 2024, 3:15 pm

Story
My name is Breanna and I am a pretty little girl puppy that is almost 5.5 months old and born around May 1st.  I won’t bore you with the sad story because most of the southern pups have one, but I was lucky that me and my 7 siblings got out of our situation alive.  I didn’t have the best start to my life and I wasn’t handled by loving people when my litter was born.  In fact the people moved off and left all of my litter in an outdoor pen with no food or water.  Luckily some neighbors there in the country learned of this and brought us some food and water a few days each week.   I have to eat all by myself because I am fearful another dog might take my food if there is one around.  But my foster mom says that I am the most loving and dearest, sweetest girl on the planet.    I love to snuggle with her and I love to have her tell me how pretty that I am and loved, too. Naturally when I first meet new people, I am timid for just a short time and then I warm up when I feel that they will be nice to me.   I adore playing and being with other dogs and I could be at a dog park every day and I would be in heaven.  I could also live with other dogs or cats in a home and that would be fun too!  My foster mom says that I am like a Teddy Bear at night as I sleep right next to her in the best snuggle position ever.  I am crate trained and I truly like my crate and sometimes when I want some alone time I will go there on my own.  I would love to have a family with another dog that could be my best friend and show me the ropes of confidence.   I also would like to go to some fun training classes too.  I am smart and would love to learn more about being the best dog I can be.  I am using a harness right now and that is my best way to walk on a leash.  I will whine when I need to go outside but it is still hard for me to go 8 hours straight without going outside.  When I grow up I will be a 45 -50 pound girl.  I will be a loving and very devoted girl that you always be proud that you rescued and adopted.  Let’s be forever friends!   Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com right now!    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 5, 2024, 3:15 pm

Story
Sometimes in the rescue world our stories about a dog we are presenting for a home just kind of leaves us a little speechless for adequate words. This boy that we call “Good Friend Charlie” is one of those deep and touching stories that we know only God had a hand in making come true as he was rescued. His foster mom Rachel calls him “a dream dog!”  But when she stumbled upon him hanging out on her countryside property where she raises chickens and geese and many other dogs that belong to her…she was not so sure of his friendly intentions.  We believe Charles was dumped in her area where he roamed for approximately 3 months, many attempting to catch him but failing as he was smart and elusive.  He roamed onto foster mom, Rachel’s property and within 2 days came out of survival mode (he would bark and bark at her while she was outside tending to her geese and chickens) and when she offered him a blanket one night as he laid in her flowerbed all curled up in 10 degree weather, he soon came back into domesticated mode the next morning.  Because of being abandoned, Good Friend Charlie has some separation anxiety and will need you to be patient while you earn his trust that he won’t be abandoned again and that you will come back for him when you leave.  This boy loves all other animals; dogs, cats, geese, chickens and he loves people of all ages.  He is only 3 years of age and weighs 50 pounds.  We think the grey on his face might be from early stress in his life.  Maybe from uncertainty that he has felt in whatever former life he lived. Good Friend Charlie is well-trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, off and wait. He even waits for permission to exit the door and waits for you to tell him he can eat his food.  He does well on a leash but he prefers to roam on his own and rarely will go more than 4 feet from you. This special dog would be wonderful for someone that does live on some acreage and just wants an indoor and outdoor companion and who is working from home or just retired and kicking back in their life.  He loves to ride in the car shotgun style in the passenger seat and he is a homebody’s best friend.  Charlie knows exactly what he wants and will alert you with a few barks to let you know he wants to go outside, or his water bowl is empty, or even when he is ready for bedtime and he is house trained.  He does have some jealousy if you are giving attention to other animals but he is easily corrected and gets better daily as he learns more about coexisting in this new home environment.  He takes to correction like a champ!  If you really want to adopt a dog that is the definition of “Man’s Best Friend” then Good Friend Charlie is your dog for a lifetime.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to ask about an adoption application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 5, 2024, 3:15 pm

Story
Arrow is now at his ideal weight, looking handsome and athletic with a shiny, healthy coat. He’s gained a lot of confidence in his place in the pack and enjoys wrestling with his Weim foster brother. Arrow is a German Shorthaired Pointer and he’s about 2 years old and 60 pounds. Arrow is a large, athletic dog. His long legs give him natural running ability, and with continued practice he will make an amazing running buddy. He regularly does 8-12 milers with us, and does need a few reminders to stay focused but it’s steadily improving. He also loves walks - we do two kinds of walks. One we call “sniff walks” on a long lead where Arrow can follow his nose. The other is just about exercise business and he walks really effectively on a half hitch to curtail the pulling. Arrow needs these outlets - both mental and physical - to be his best self. Arrow is doing well on sit and getting better at come. We are also working on “place”, which we think is important to peace at the dinner table, as Arrows head is effectively table level. He’s completely house trained and crate trained. He’s a handsome athlete and will be successful with a family who can commit to giving him the physical and mental outlets GSPs need to be good dogs. After seeing him settle in, I’d be comfortable with him going to families with other dogs (male and female) with patient adjustment time and the understanding that this boy is a giant puppy, who loves big and plays big.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 5, 2024, 9:08 pm
