Story
Everyone meet outgoing Oreo! He is happy, energetic, very friendly, affectionate and just wanting to be loved. Oreo was brought to our attention by our local vet after his family brought him in to be euthanized after he was hit by a car. Oreo didn't need to be euthanized, but he did need to have his leg amputated. He still had a whole life ahead of him and being an experienced vet, she knew Oreo could still live a happy, pain-free, fulfilling life with 3 legs. His family gave up on him so we took him in and provided him with the veterinary care he needed. He's now all healed up, happy, and wanting to be a cherished member of a loving family. Oreo has plenty of energy to go around. He's a little wiggle worm who by nature is curious, intelligent, playful, loving, energetic and wants to be around people. He loves giving and receiving attention and will gladly lay his head on your lap or lean in to your legs to show his affection. He will be a phenomenal companion to join you on your nature walks as well as a great candidate to teach all kinds of tricks to that will keep him mentally stimulated and challenged. Oreo weighs around 55 lbs and was born around 4/27/22. He's neutered, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. To learn more or to apply for this sweet boy, please email us at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org Please note, if you’re not ready to adopt but would consider fostering Oreo, we would love to share with your what that means and how much of a positive difference you’d be making in a life of a dog that needs you.

Story
Meet Kayla, an adorable 1-year-old Pointer mix pup with a heart full of love. Kayla (and her brother Kyle) was cherished in a warm and caring home, where she was surrounded by love and kindness. Unfortunately, her elderly owner could no longer care for her, and so Kayla is now looking for a new family to share her life with. Kayla is a short-haired brown and white mixed breed pup, currently weighs 38 pounds. Kayla may grow and little bit more, but is expected to remain a medium size dog.Kayla is a friendly, affectionate soul who truly thrives on connection. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and children, making her a perfect family companion. Kayla rides well in the car so she will be a great traveling companion for a family that is on the go from anything from local errands to outdoor adventures. Kayla is a higher energy gal and will need manners training as well as time to settle after transitions. She will also need consistent structure with ample exercise. All Kayla has ever known is love and comfort, and she dreams of finding a family that will give her the same. She is gentle, loyal, and ready to fill your home with happiness and unconditional love. Her journey of leash, and crate training is already underway, and she is eager to learn and please. The perfect family for Kayla is one that will continue her training, socialization and exercise, so she can prove what a valued family member she can be. Kayla has already mastered her house training. With hard work and dedication, Kayla made it to the finish line. It is important to remember that although Kayla is housetrained accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If you are looking for a sweet, loving dog who knows what it means to be part of a family, Kayla is ready to be yours.* Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Kayla is $500.
