Story
Sweetie is a 5 month old mixed breed puppy with the cutest spotted nose and belly. She weighs about 23 pounds now, so she will not be a huge dog full grown. She was in an overcrowded shelter just begging for pets and attention. She loves her belly rubbed and is so cuddly. She is a happy, friendly girl. She is good with other dogs and kids too. She is working on her house and crate training in foster care. Apply at bcaaofnj.orgInterested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
Meet Sundae Sundae is a beautiful, mature girl who is 8 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. She has been a loved family dog her entire life and has been well cared for, including regular yearly veterinary checkups (most recently seen by the vet in June).Sundae is affectionate and enjoys being pet and loved, but she does have clear boundaries. She does not do well with rough handling or having her body messed with (ears, tail, etc.). Because of this, she is not a match for homes with babies or toddlers who are still learning how to interact with dogs. She has never shown aggression toward adults or older children who understand and respect a dog’s boundaries. A home with kids around 7 years old or older who can listen and interact appropriately would be just fine. She is friendly with people and has done well around strangers. Sundae has also been around cats, puppies, and small dogs and does well with them, though her ideal home would be one where she can soak up attention as the only pet.Sundae is house trained and was crate trained in the past, but has not used a crate in the last couple of years. She does not chew furniture or belongings. While she isn’t interested in dog toys, she enjoys treats and bones and is very easy in the home.On leash, Sundae generally does well, but she may get excited if she sees another dog or a squirrel. The ideal home for Sundae would be a calm, stable household—preferably an adult couple or individual—with no babies and no other pets, where she can receive plenty of love, attention, and consistency for the rest of her life. She would also do well in a home with respectful, dog-savvy older children.Sundae is currently still living in her home and is safely managed by being kept separate from a toddler. She is free-roaming when appropriate and will remain with her family until the right forever home is found. The goal is not to rush her placement, but to ensure she goes to someone who will truly love her and honor her needs for the rest of her life.Sundae deserves a home where she can finally relax, feel understood, and be cherished. Story
Hi!  My name is Jimmy and I am looking for a forever home.  I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control and taken to a really scary place called a shelter.  I spent my early puppy months there and when I got about 6months old, I heard through the grapevine that I was going to be placed on something bad called "the list".  Fortunately for me, a small local rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help me and when they said yes, was able to get me to one of their fosters.  Since I missed out on most of the socialization skills that young puppies get, my foster was able to get me into a Prison Dog Program called "New Leash on Life" where I'm doing really, really good.  My previous foster mom says she's not surprised as she says I am a smart boy who really wants to please and just need a little fine tuning which the program is addressing (things like walking good on leash without pulling, sit, stay and crate training).  As I mentioned, I'm around 6months old and I'm already around 51lbs so I'm probably going to be a big boy once I reach the adult stage.  I appear to be maybe a mix of lab and pointer but no one knows for sure, but I'm told I'm a handsome dude.  I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I have met and so far haven't bothered those things called cats but did show some interest in what they were.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application!
