Story
Lance is a great dog. A friend of mine found him and posted his picture on Facebook. I met him and took him home the next day. He has been my friend for 8+ years. Due to my health, I am no longer able to take him on the walks that he loves and feel he would be happier in a new home. He loves other dogs and cats and loves to play with my grand children, ages 21-4. He loves to chase squirls and bunnies. He has never caught one but this doesn't deter him from trying again and again. Lance would be a welcome addition to any home. I just want to make sure he will be well taken care of and happy.

Story
Sullivan wants to be your Little Spoon! Sully is a goofy, wiggly, fun-loving, bed-hogging young pup. His favorite pastimes include snuggling with his people, having his butt scratched, destroying his toys, and playing with other dogs. He has a big, fat personality with lots of charming quirks to keep you entertained. He is very affectionate - when you snuggle with him, he will give you lots of kisses and will rub his head all over you. He has classic "puppy eyes" and knows exactly how to use them! One of his adorable quirks is snoring! Think "congested walrus driving a bulldozer, chasing a grizzly bear carrying a chainsaw, with a fighter jet passing overhead". Though Sully be but smaller, he is loud.  When Sullivan is awake, he is generally a quiet little guy, but he does occasionally bark or howl. So unless you dislike your neighbors, Sully would not make a good apartment dog. He is almost completely house-trained, but timing is everything with Sully.  So, getting him on a schedule and keeping to it should make things go smoothly. His signal to go out is VERY subtle. Training him to ring a bell to go out might help, but having a fenced yard would be best for him, especially if he has a doggie door where he can let himself out. If going for a potty walk, he does reasonably well on a leash, but does pull sometimes, and will still need some training. Sully is generally a very relaxed little guy, but he is still a puppy, and will get regular spurts of energy throughout the day and enjoys the play company of other dogs. Ideally, he'd do best in a home with a larger, confident dog to teach him the ropes. Sully loves to play with toys – any toy! Squeakers, plushies, chew toys – Sully loves to destroy them all, so he’ll need a big supply of fun chew toys. He will gleefully rip off a chunk and swallow it if you don't keep an eye on him, so supervised play is highly recommended. He is very food motivated and uses a slow feeder dish; otherwise he inhales his food and gives himself hiccups. He doesn't guard his food, dish, toys, etc. but will try to eat the food of the other household pets (or people), so everyone is separated at mealtimes He is crate trained, but he doesn't much care for the crate and gets upset if he is left in it for very long. He has done fine being allowed to roam free when his people are out, but has other dog friends to keep him company. However, his exuberance upon your return could power a small village for the day, so there's that. Sully gets a little nervous riding in the car, but generally does well. He will get into a car on his own, if given a little extra time to do things at his own pace. Once he settles in, he'll curl up on the seat and ride calmly. It's been a while since he's gotten car sick, but it is always a possibility. (DOB 12/23/2022). As part of Sullivan’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sullivan, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.   ##1652959##
