Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
Millie is a spunky 7 year old pointer mix looking for a new home. Sh is about 40 lbs and the perfect medium sized companion. She would be best suited for a home without young children or cats. She is ok with other dogs if they are more submissive. Millie loves to end the day laying across your lap and snuggling in. She is happy to walk a couple of times a day or run around in a fenced yard. Otherwise she happy as long as she has a soft surface to sleep on! She has some leash reactivity so would be best suited for an owner with some experience there. She has no health issues and is up to date on all her vaccines. Millie is a sweet gal with lots of love to give.

Story
Romeo is sponsored by the Litke Family.Meet Romeo If you’re looking for a dog who will truly love you, Romeo is ready to give his whole heart. This sweet boy has been waiting far too long for his happily ever after, and he deserves a family who will cherish and spoil him the way he’s always deserved.Romeo is incredibly affectionate and devoted to his people. He’s a total leaner who wants to press right up against you, soaking in every bit of closeness he can. After he’s had a chance to stretch his legs and play (a fenced yard where he can safely run and explore would be perfect for him), he’s happiest curled up as close as possible—sometimes somehow folding himself into the tiniest little ball just to stay connected to his person. He’s playful, loyal, and eager to be part of your everyday life—whether that’s enjoying time outside together or relaxing at home. Romeo bonds deeply and loves with his whole heart. He’s been so patient while waiting for someone to choose him. Now he just needs a loving family to finally say, “You’re home.” Could you be the one to give Romeo the forever he’s been dreaming of? He’s loyal, loving, and ready to finally have a place to call home. Romeo has been patient… now he just needs someone to choose him. The shelter is also open to a foster-to-adopt situation so Romeo can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who he truly is in a home environment. Once he's out of the chaos, his loving and loyal side really comes through. If you are interested in meeting Romeo, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.
