Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
Callie is full of energy and can be quite hyper at times but she is super sweet and smart. She is currently in a board and train program so she is learning what it is like to be a dog. She is smart and her training will also be followed to her new home. She knows how to play fetch and loves to tease you with a ball or tug toy. She loves pets but would rather lick you and will give an occasional love nip when she is really excited. Callie is getting the needed training to be a great addition to your home. She is incredibly smart and motivated by treats. She is potty trained and sits when asked but sometimes it takes a few requests when she is really excited or has been in her crate for a while. She is crate trained and will enter her crate using the term “kennel up”. She is super friendly with other dogs and people but will bark (one of the things working on), using the words “leave it” seem to be helpful. She is still learning to walk on a leash and likes to pull but is improving (again she is working on that). A home with older kids without cats would be best for Callie because of her strong drive to chase. She is good with other dogs and loves to play but sometimes doesn’t have spatial awareness. She would make an excellent hunting dog. She is high energy so NO Apartments for her. A securely fenced yard so she can run and chase a ball is a must. Banfield said she has 5 breeds that she doesn`t act or look like and her former owner said she was a boxer husky, NOPE she doesn`t act or look like that. She looks like a Pointer. She acts like a pointer so we say she is a pointer. Callie is almost 3 years old and around 50 pounds, fully vetted, chipped and spayed. To meet her fill out the application on OFOSA.ORG and her foster mom will be in touch with you. Her adoption fee is $340.
