A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we are hoping someone will give this incredibly deserving boy the second chance he has been waiting for. Meet Roosevelt Roosevelt is a 10-month-old Pointer mix (our best guess) who has already come such a long way. Roosevelt was rescued from a hoarding and neglect case after being seized from a property where multiple dogs were living in extremely poor conditions. When he arrived at the shelter, he was severely malnourished and weighed only 27 pounds. Thankfully, Roosevelt is a completely different dog today. After receiving the food, medical care, and TLC he desperately needed, he has blossomed into a healthy, happy 50-pound boy. He had some skin issues to overcome before he was cleared to travel, but he is now past all of that and is looking and feeling great! Roosevelt also spent some time in a foster home, where he continued to do well and show what an all-around good dog he is. He was able to get a start on potty training, crate training, and learn about living in a home. He did okay around cats, but might want to chase a cat if it was running. Unfortunately, his foster family was unable to keep him longer, so Roosevelt is currently back at the shelter while he waits for his ride to Wisconsin. Despite the change, he is doing well and is ready for his next chapter. Roosevelt is great with other dogs and loves to play. He has an easygoing, happy personality and is the kind of dog who just wants to enjoy life and be part of a family. After everything this sweet boy has been through, it is wonderful to see him looking healthy, happy, and ready for a forever home. Now Roosevelt just needs someone to give him the chance he has been waiting for. He has already made an incredible transformation — going from a severely malnourished 27-pound dog to a healthy 50-pound boy — and we cannot wait to see what the rest of his story looks like. Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
