Story
Astro was a dedicated companion to our widowed mother till she died before Christmas this year. None of her children are able to adopt Astro and we are urgently trying to find him a forever home. Astro is a mellow old dude and a dedicated snuggler (he joined my mother on the couch each night and provided great company). He has been an indoor dog living in a condo with my mother for the past five years, so he is not accustomed to much more than some short walks around the neighborhood, making him suitable for another senior human companion. He was fiercely loyal and protective as a younger dog and was not good around other dogs, so it is probably best he would be the only pet in his adoptive home. He does fine around older children (her house was often filled with grandkids). Astro does have some food allergies (recent adjustments in his diet have helped alleviate the issues) and he has a heart murmur, but he is otherwise a healthy senior dog.

He becomes affectionate, playful, and absolutely loves being close to his humans. If you sit on the floor with him, get ready—Poppy gives the best hugs and will happily curl right into your lap. He’s a total sweetheart and wants nothing more than someone to love. 🎾 Playtime & Energy His favorite toy is a tennis ball, and fetch is his game of choice! Hi there - my name is Bliss, and I'm a sweet, gentle girl who's still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. I can be a little shy at first and tend to hang back until I feel comfortable, but with a quiet voice and a gentle touch, I warm up and really enjoy soft pets and calm company. I've had a lot of changes in my life lately, so I'm still finding my confidence. I do best with people who move slowly and give me time to trust - once I do, you'll see what a kind and sensitive soul I am. I absolutely love other dogs and really come out of my shell when I'm around them, so I think I would prefer a home with another dog versus not. Having a friendly canine companion in my future home would help me feel safe and supported as I continue to blossom! I'd be happiest in a calm, patient home without small children, where I can take things at my own pace.
