Story
We are an elderly couple in our mid-70s and received a wonderful mixed-breed rescue dog over four years ago — a dog we named Grover. Due to unexpected health issues and the fact that we frequently travel to New York City to visit our children and grandchildren, we unfortunately need to re-home Grover. We want to make sure he gets a good home. Originally rescued from Oklahoma 5 years ago. Grover is friendly, enjoys being petted, and loves to be outside and catch balls. He has herding instincts so appreciates space to run and take walks (he is good on the leash). He will protect the home and owner (he does not like unexpected/unknown visitors at the door, or delivery people.) He knows basic commands (sit, down, stay). He does not jump up onto furniture or steal food. He is a medium-sized dog, about 50 pounds, and is about 6 years old. Grover is up to date on all vaccinations and had his annual check-up in June. Grover would fit best in a single-dog home, or with female dogs. He is good with our grandchildren. Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to keep Grover and want him in a good home.

Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. Lola is an almost-one year old, 27 lb mixed breed. She is a social butterfly who packs big dog energy into a perfectly portable size. She loves playing with doggy friends, zoomies, taking walks, naps by your side and meeting new people. Lola is food motivated—making her a great candidate for continued training. She is also your classic “shadow dog,” happiest when she’s close to her favorite people and taking part in whatever you’re doing. Lola's ideal match is someone that is home most of the day or willing to bring her on adventures. She does not like being in a crate and does best when allowed to free roam in a dog-safe space. Lola is good with kids, but she has jumpy puppy energy, so adults-only or teen home is her best match. Lola experiences occasional urinary “oopsies” moments. Her foster family says this is a manageable behavior and they will share tips and tricks with adopter. Banyan came from Missouri with his 4 siblings. They were living outside & a sweet woman helped take them in & start their initial cares. They arrived to HPOMH the middle of May & have been the sweetest, most snuggly things! They are still quite unsure of humans, but day by day, they are all coming around! Banyan has been neutered, & will come as UTD on vaccines as he can be.
