Story
Meet Ella! This 1 year-old, 55-pound bundle of joy is a true testament to the power of second chances. Just days before she was set to be euthanized in a high-kill shelter due to overcrowding, we couldn't stand by and let that happen. We saw the videos and pictures of Ella-full of life, energy, and happiness-and knew we had to give her a shot. Fast forward to today, and Ella is living her best life in her foster home, where she has flourished into the playful, goofy girl we knew she would be. Ella is fostered with multiple dogs and cats, and she's the life of the party! She's obsessed with playing with her doggy friends-whether it's a game of chase, or just bouncing around with a toy, she's always up for fun. She's crate trained, food motivated, and friendly with everyone she meets, both human and canine. Ella is also working on her potty training, and with a little more practice, she'll be the perfect house guest. Her bubbly, boisterous personality is contagious, but it can be a bit much for some dogs who aren't as interested in playtime. She's still learning to read social cues and would do best in a home with another dog who enjoys her high-energy, playful nature. Homes with young kids will be considered on a case by case basis, as Ella's still working on not jumping when she gets excited. While Ella has yet to interact with cats, we don't anticipate any issues-she's just a big, goofy lovebug with no mean bone in her body. Ella's zest for life makes her the perfect companion for an active family or anyone ready to keep up with her playful spirit. If you're looking for a dog who is all heart, all play, and all love, Ella is the girl for you! Rey of Hope Rescue is a locally based dog & cat rescue in Milwaukee serving all of SE Wisconsin. We are passionate about helping you find the best pet match for your home. WI License # DS-536355

Story
If you’re reading this, we here in the rescue already know you’re a special person. It takes a very special, kind, loving, extremely caring person to consider adopting an adult/senior dog. The world needs more people like you and dogs like Gunnar need people like you. Gunner’s family has decided they would like to rehome him through no fault of his own. Gunner might be a little set in his ways, but who isn’t at this age? Gunner would be great with an older couple, no other dogs and not lots of small kids in and out. He is not a huge fan of little dogs. He hasn’t ever bitten anyone or anything, but has snapped at some smaller dogs who get on his nerves 😂. We could easily put you in touch with his current family and they can tell you all about him if interested. This guy just needs a great home to live out the rest of his days and in and a family that won’t turn their back on him again. Once adopted, Gunner will travel via Rescue Vet Transport to his new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make Gunner part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Our turnaround time is typically less than 24 hours so please be prepared before you submit your application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Sammy is a sweet, 8 year old Pointer Mix, possibly a bit of a Lab Mix, estimated to be 45 lbs. Prior to joining BAARK, Sammy was bounced around until he reached his foster home. It takes a bit of time for Sammy to warm up to people he does not know, but once he gets to know you, he is your best friend! He enjoys being petted, and snuggling next to his person. He loves to chew bones and play with (tear apart!!) soft toys. He is not too fond of sharing his toys, however, and prefers to hide them when not playing. Sammy is afraid of loud noises and can be startled by quick movements, as well. He gets long with most dogs, but would definitely do best with a female dog friend. He’d enjoy being an only dog too. A family with older children or an all-adult home would be great, but smaller children might scare Sammy. He is housebroken, and can be left free-roaming when home alone. Sammy is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, has had recent bloodwork, is heartworm negative and is on year-round heartworm prevention. He is also neutered and microchipped. If you would like to add Sammy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine. If you would like to consider Billie for a member of your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to our area.

Story
Lizzie is a young dog, who looks like a pointer mix, and she weighs about 35 pounds, but probably needs to put on a few pounds. She has amber eyes and a beautiful reddish brown and white coat, which is surprisingly healthy given all the demands on her in the last couple months. She is a loving, gentle, easy going dog who is ready to fill a home with love. We began fostering Lizzie on October 14. The next day, she delivered her 10 precious puppies, and she has been a devoted mother and the sweetest dog. I was able to learn a little about her background by connecting to Elizabeth, (the woman who rescued her and for whom Lizzie is named) on instagram. Lizzie was dumped in a church parking lot in Dyersburg, Tennessee in September. Like many dogs do, she sadly waited where she was dropped for her person to come back for her. She slept there at night and spent her days not far. Elizabeth, who lives next door to the church told me "She never ran with the other dogs..she was so sad. Her heart was broke. Then she showed signs of being pregnant. That made her even sadder I believe. She was so defeated. Elizabeth fed Lizzie like she fed the other strays nearby. Elizabeth knew Lizzie was a special dog though she could see Lizzie was broken and just became sadder and sadder. When it became apparent that Lizzie was pregnant, Elizabeth, who has a houseful of animals, said, "I knew I had to do something...I reached out to local shelters..no luck...so I started calling everywhere...turned down repeatedly..then Harleigh (Border Tails' founder and executive director) called me back...so thankful. Elizabeth and her son then drove Lizzie from Tennessee. When I met Lizzie, she was very shy and sad. Her tail was between her legs and she rarely made eye contact. I had to carry her up and down the stairs. By the next day, she had started perking up-which is a good thing because that's the day her puppies were born. In no time, Lizzie learned how to go up and down stairs, how to only go potty outside, the routine of our household, how to go in and out the doggy doors in our house. Her tail wags whenever she sees us. She is still very shy around new people, but nothing a few treats can't fix. We have a regular schedule where she goes out to do her business and hang out with us for a while at regular times. Of course with the amount of food she needs to eat to feed 10 growing puppies, her schedule isn't always regular, but she lets us know when she has to go. When we foster a mom with puppies, we keep them in our big old fashioned laundry room with a closed door so she'll feel safe. If Lizzie has to go potty, she'll scratch on the door, and if we don't come right away, then she'll bark. From my experience fostering momma dogs, I would expect that as soon as she's not nursing her puppies and not eating enormous amounts, she would easily adjust her potty schedule to the household she is in. She continues to come out of her shell day by day. She has always gotten along with the family dogs, but only recently has wanted to play a little. She never barks or reacts to other dogs on walks or in neighbors' yards even when they bark at her. She is very affectionate to my husband and me. She loves to just put her head in our laps, and will sometimes almost fall asleep standing up with her head on our laps. Right now, she does not get on our furniture, though we would allow her to do so if she wanted to. She is a very tidy dog. The puppies and their area are all immaculate at all times. We don't think she had ever been on a walk before, and the first week, she was very reluctant to go anywhere on a leash. But now, she does her business in our backyard, comes back in the house, and runs to the front door to go for a walk. She's a quiet dog, she very occasionally barks at squirrels and she barks if she's with her puppies and she hears an unusual sound. She walks nicely on a leash, but I'm guessing that as she gains confidence, she'll start to pull more. She is a very easy, undemanding dog without any bad habits except occasionally jumping to greet you. She is very treat motivated. I think she would fit nicely into almost any situation. Initially, she will need patience, but based on our experience here, she will come around very quickly.

Adoption Fee: $450We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days.  at one of our preferred clinics. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. November 8, 2024, 6:15 pm
