Sweet Fonzie is a 10-year-old male Pointer/Hound mix and weighs about 80 pounds. He is potty-trained, does great in his kennel, sleeps through the night and can generally be trusted on his own in the house (even though he hasn’t been left alone for too, too long yet in his foster home). Fonzie’s favorite things are cuddling, snacks, sniffing and being the best boy!! He gets along with dogs and cats – and loves to play chase, and he loves people of all shapes and sizes. In addition to being top-notch cuddlers, Fonzie’s new family will need to have a fenced yard, OR have a strong person to take him on walks because he’s quite strong and wants to pull towards awesome sniffies and other playful pups. He will need continued work on this so he can be a more polite walking buddy. Fonz is very food-motivated which will help with his continued training. He already knows several commands, including sit, paw, here, and down – and has learned “in” to go to his kennel when its meal time. Fonzie is proving to be a super smart pup and will thrive with a family who will continue to keep his mind occupied and teach him new things – can cuddle with him a lot. Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine.
