Story
All 1-year-old Archie wants is to have fun, fun, fun! Percolating with spirit and spunk, this sweet 13-pound pup thrives as much on activity as he does on affection and adores being in the company of his foster mom. While he’s not a fan of being patted, he loves resting his head on her, rolling over for belly rubs, burrowing under the covers and performing the cutest of ranger crawls. He also LOVES toys, especially his animals, balls and dog puzzles, chewing bones, playing fetch, jumping around in the snow, and going on two 30-minute walks a day, honing his leash skills along the way. Always friendly towards every person and other dog, large or small, that he meets, Archie, who has a high prey drive, would not fare well with cats, but he’s highly intelligent and is ever so eager to please and to learn. Motivated by food, toys and love, he likes all treats, accepting them gently, presently knows “come,” “sit,” “stay” and “no,” is crate trained and almost fully house-trained. Now, for Archie to thrive, he needs an especially active home with older children, preferably with another equally energetic doggy playmate, and patient adopters to put his energy to the best use possible, complete his training, including his commands, and promise to adore him fur-ever. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
We’d like to reintroduce Louie! Louie changed foster homes a while back and we’ve discovered that there is a cute, sweet, loving little dude beneath his gremlin facade. Louie has learned over the years what he desires and he communicates it very clearly. We don’t know his entire past but his future is looking bright, now that we understand what he needs. After having next to nothing for so long, Louie has learned to cherish the good things in life so much that he won’t let anyone (human or animal) near them. Although inconvenient, this endearing behavior is totally manageable and we will clue you in if he chooses you to be his person. Louie enjoys pets, snuggles and cuddling in your lap; he is quite affectionate. The way to his heart is through walks and car rides; he can’t get enough! He is always ready to go and will show you with his exuberant jumping and dancing. Louie is house trained, prefers to sleep in his dog bed at night and knows several party tricks. On a serious note, Louie is an adorable little dog and very fun and easy to live with. He resource guards so he needs to find a home with an adult or adults who understand this behavior and react appropriately (again, don’t fret, we’ll teach you). Louie’s new owner will need to be his advocate, by protecting him from things he does not love, like children and strangers (this is also super easy, you don’t need professional body guard training, promise). Louie communicates very clearly so it won’t be a surprise as to what he needs. Louie has lived with cats and multiple dogs while in foster care. He co-exists with everyone and will play on occasion. Louie would be fine as an only dog. However, he’d also be fine with small dogs or calm, large dogs. He just doesn’t have an appreciation for large, exuberant, dogs who may push him around or step on him. If you feel that you have what it takes to love this personable little dude, please reach out. Louie is in foster in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/louie.
