Story
Pappy is a 1.5-year-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix with a huge heart and a confident little strut. She’s potty trained, crate trained, and a loving, playful companion who thrives when she’s close to her people. Pappy is sweet & affectionate, and she absolutely loves going on walks. She’s friendly with strangers, does well in the car, and is easy to transport, though busy public spaces can make her a bit nervous. At home, Pappy is best left crated if she’s home alone as she can be a bit anxious (Work from home? Retired? You’re our target audience here) . She’s good with other dogs, though she can be a little bossy and isn’t afraid to communicate when she needs space. She’d also be perfectly happy being an only dog. Pappy can be exuberantly mouthy when she plays and barky when she’s protecting her home (thank you, Chihuahuas, for your service). Therefore, she is best suited in a home with kids 8+ and a fenced in yard. While she considers herself lucky for making it out of the shelter and into a foster home, Pappy had a streak of bad luck that landed her with not one, not two, but three issues with her legs. 🤦🏼‍♀️. She suffered some sort of accident prior to entering MHCR that left her with a fractured pelvis (and shattered femoral head) and a luxating patella. These items were successfully addressed surgically and Pappy was almost cleared for adoption….then she ran her mouth to a French Bulldog. That little scuffle landed her with a broken front paw. Thankfully, she just needed a splint for a couple of months—no additional surgery required. Alas, it’s officially time to find her forever home. Pappy is being fostered in Lone Tree, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/pappy/. Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Lady Didimus finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Lady Didimus | 5-year-old Yorkie/Papillon Mix | A tiny shadow who lives for cuddles Lady Didimus is a petite, affectionate little girl who bonds deeply with her person and wants nothing more than to be by your side. At 8 pounds, she may be small, but her love is mighty. She is reliably housetrained and clearly communicates when she needs to go out by standing at the door, scratching, and pacing nearby, though adopters should be aware that, as with many dogs, some regression in house training can occur as she adjusts to a new environment. She does wonderfully on leash and enjoys calm, pleasant walks, though she may zig-zag a bit if given extra leash length. Lady Didimus does well being left alone for short periods (3–4 hours) and settles quickly, though she may bark briefly when her people first leave. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is generally a quiet, easy companion. During the day, she’s happiest curled up at your feet while you work or snuggled close on the couch—personal space is not her strong suit, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is shy at first but warms up quickly and becomes incredibly affectionate once she feels safe. She loves hugs, kisses, belly rubs, and following her person everywhere. While she coexists well with larger dogs, she prefers human companionship over play and appreciates having her space respected. Because of this, she would do best in a calm, adult-only home or one without young children. She enjoys toys, car rides, walks, and tasty treats (especially chicken jerky). She knows “come” and “no,” is learning “sit,” and has some adorable tricks like “hug hug,” where she jumps into your arms, and “kiss.” After being found living under a carport and experiencing stress in the shelter, Lady Didimus has blossomed in foster care into a sweet, devoted companion. She’s gaining weight, building confidence, and is ready to find a peaceful, loving home where she can stay close to her person and soak up all the affection she’s been waiting for. Click here to see more photos of Lady Didimus!   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $500. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
