Story
Meet Kuma!
Kuma is a 7-year-old, 16 lb Pomeranian with a story that's been anything but ordinary. Rescued after spending her life as an Amish puppy mill mom, Kuma has traveled a long, strange road to get here. And if we've learned one thing about her, it's this:
**Kuma is the toughest puff to ever be a puff.**
She's tiny. She's fluffy. She's incredibly opinionated.
Kuma is also...well...a little weird.
She's an independent little lady who is still learning that people can be kind. Cuddles? Those are suspicious. Being picked up? Absolutely unnecessary. While her foster mom insists on loving her anyway, Kuma usually responds with the most dramatic side-eye you've ever seen, as if to say, *"This level of affection seems excessive."*
But don't let her fool you.
While Kuma may act like she doesn't need anyone, she absolutely needs to know where her people are. Her favorite place to supervise life is sprawled dramatically in the hallway, where she can monitor the entire household. And if someone has the audacity to close the bathroom door? Expect to hear her signature protest.
Which brings us to another one of Kuma's...unique qualities.
Kuma doesn't really bark.
She yells **"A!"**
Not "woof." Not "ruff."
Just...loud, passionate, determined **A's** that echo through the house like she's trying to make an important announcement that only she understands. We don't know why. We've stopped asking questions. It's simply part of the Kuma experience.
Walks? Harnesses? Leashes? Kuma would rather not, thank you very much. Those are all very strange inventions, and she has no interest in participating. A securely fenced yard where she can safely patrol, sniff, and conduct her mysterious little missions is much more her style.
Now, while people are still somewhat confusing, dogs? Dogs are the best.
Kuma absolutely adores her foster siblings and happily lives with dogs of all sizes. Her favorites are the big dogs, and she'd love a confident canine companion to follow around the yard like the tiny, fluffy shadow creature she was clearly destined to be. Sometimes she'll play. Sometimes she'll simply trail behind them as though she's on an important assignment that only she knows about.
Kuma may never become the cuddly lap dog people expect when they hear "Pomeranian," and that's perfectly okay. What she needs is a family that will celebrate her for exactly who she is—a resilient little survivor with a hilarious personality, endless sass, and a heart that's learning, one day at a time, that life can be safe.
The greatest gift you can give Kuma isn't forcing affection. It's giving her the freedom to be wonderfully, unapologetically herself.
And if you're lucky, one day she'll reward you with a hallway nap, a tiny shadow following you through the yard, and a very enthusiastic chorus of "A!" every time you disappear behind a closed bathroom door.
Kuma is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
