Story
Born in late March 2025, this adorable 5-month-old pug/chihuahua mix is already winning hearts with his cuddly charm and gentle nature. His story began when his loving mama was rescued from a shelter while pregnant — now this little guy is ready to write his next chapter: a forever home. Rick is sweet, calm, and affectionate—great with gentle kids and other small, friendly dogs. He’s still learning the ropes (house training and puppy manners are in progress!), but he’s a bright little boy who loves to please and be close to his people. Fully vetted, neutered, and current on all his vaccines, Rick is happy, healthy, and ready to be your loyal companion. His adoption fee is $480. Story
Tad is a 1.5 year old, 10 pound Chihuahua/Pug who joined us recently from Yuma. Tad is a happy, playful little guy who enjoys meeting other people but can be a bit pushy when meeting other dogs. He doesn't like to share his food or toys so he'll be happiest as your only canine companion. He is house and crate trained, and though his favorite activities involve interaction with his humans, he will also play quietly by himself, with a toy, if you're busy. He will do best in a home with a yard, but he also does best having a morning walk. He wants to yell "hello" to other dogs he passes on his walks, but he knows he's not supposed to, so he'll carry a toy in his mouth on his strolls. He enjoys going on outings with the volunteers, and he's working with them to perfect his basic commands (so far he has mastered "sit). He is treat motivated and easy to train. He can also be an opportunist, so be careful if you drop something on the ground. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and is a master of "keep away," but his overall favorite activity is hanging out on the couch and climbing on his humans. This happy little guy is enjoying being spoiled by one of our amazing foster homes, and is available by appointment. You may also email info@AzFriends.org to arrange a meeting. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
👻🐾 Meet Ghost — The Speed Racer with a Heart of Gold! 🐾👻 Don’t worry — this Ghost isn’t here to haunt you... he's here to steal your heart! 💘 Born on 7/7/25, Ghost is an energetic, fun-loving pup who’s always on the move and ready for adventure. Nicknamed a “speed racer” by his foster, this little guy loves to zoom around, chase toys (even if he doesn’t bring them back 😄), and wrestle with his siblings. He's full of puppy curiosity and charm! 💫 Ghost's Perks: 🐾 Great with kids — he’s been around an 8-year-old and an 11-month-old and loves them both! 🐾 Gets along wonderfully with medium and small dogs 🐾 Good with men and very people-friendly 🐾 Loves crinkly toys, teething bones, and soft meaty treats 🐾 Will fetch a ball… but don’t expect him to return it (he’s working on it 😂) 🐾 Not leash-trained yet, but learning fast! 🐾 Almost fully potty trained — accidents only happen if he’s not let outside in time! Ghost isn't crate-trained but does well in a fenced-in pen and is familiar with a doggie door (though he hasn’t started using it for potty breaks yet). He’s treat-motivated and eager to learn, making him a great candidate for someone ready to keep up with his playful energy and help him thrive! 🐶✨ 📌 Must-haves for Ghost: ✔️ Chew toys ✔️ Doggie bed ✔️ Lots of attention ✔️ A potential doggy playmate! Ready to add some puppy-powered joy to your life? Ghost is the perfect mix of playful and loving — and he’s waiting for someone just like you. 🏡💙 💌 Apply to adopt: 👉 https://forms.gle/7dTuG94nZKd839c2A

Story
Meet Kash! This rambunctious little guy is full of love and energy! He loves a good cuddle and long naps, as well as running around the park and saying hi to other dogs. He is just over 1 years old, and is almost fully potty trained. We would totally keep him if he weren't territorial with the cats. He is not aggressive, but will follow the cats around and mark their items (this is what I meant by 'almost' potty trained). He doesn't seem to do that with dogs or other humans, and will still play with the cats when they play. This is his second home, his first home was with a family member and her family, who were moving and could not take him with. We want him to find a loving home that is able to dedicate some quality cuddle time and lots of treats!

Story
Hi, I’m Frankie (Francis is my name when I am feeling fancy). I’m a 5-year-old Tri Colored English Bulldog and have the heart of a puppy. When you first meet me, my nubby tail will be wiggling and I will let you fall in love with me. But when you take me home, I will be reserved and shy at first. I will slowly open up and show you my silly side. I will be your shadow so you no longer have to go to the bathroom alone. I am super smart and food motivated. I know how to sit, high five, down, and stay/wait. I’m working on leave it, drop it, and answering to my name (to be honest, I know my name, I just really like the treats). I would do best as an only dog or with a dog that is submissive, and with a family who will set firm and consistent boundaries. I’ve been living with a 5 year old child, and while I do LOVE HER, I have jumped at her when we all are excited, so I might be better suited with a family with children no younger than 5. (By the way, I can jump super high). I absolutely love my toys and food, but I can get a little protective of them. Since I spent some time living on the streets, I learned to guard what was mine to stay safe. Because of that, it’s best if other pets give me space during mealtime or when I have a toy. With love, patience, and consistency, I know I can learn to relax and share more easily. I walk very well on a leash, and like to stop to look at other dogs. I go potty outside (I use a doggie door at my foster’s house), and I enjoy baths and playing in the kiddie pool. I do worry when you are away, but if you promise to always come back, I can handle you leaving from time to time. I love my ears and butt scratches, and apparently my eyebrows are good luck so don’t forget to rub those. I will be your best friend, if you’ll be mine. So let’s be roommates and I will promise to be a good loyal boy. ****Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to meet me!
