Story
Greetings from doggy land.....My name is Stuart and I have been patiently waiting for my forever home... Is it with you?  After my owner couldn’t take care of me any longer, I was lucky to land safely in a wonderful foster home that has given me lots of love and confidence. Now I am asking YOU to step up and make my life complete by making me a true family member again! As a 13 lbs., 8-year-old Chug, I am a long-legged guy with great house manners, enjoy car rides and simply adore morning walks! Bring the harness out and I am ready to go!  I'm quite athletic, love to run and explore so I definitely need a secure, fenced yard. I am a cuddle-bug and would love to be your new best friend.  Although I interact well with the other small dogs in my foster home, I secretly wish to be your one and only pup... I deserve all the love, right? I come with a clean bill of health:  neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and had a doggy dental not long ago.  I'm a charmer... pick me! Stuart's adoption fee of $350 helps the Rescue with medical expenses of more dogs in need. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application.   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.     .  October 18, 2025, 5:22 pm

Story
Max is a sensitive, low-key guy who wants a calm home and a person he can bond with deeply. He’s not a social dog and doesn’t enjoy busy environments, high activity, or a lot of new interactions — he’s happiest with his person, his routines, and a peaceful space where he can just exist comfortably. Max would prefer to be the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for himself. But in his current foster home, he has been learning how to live with other dogs and is becoming increasingly respectful. His quick or unexpected movements can make other dogs unsure of him, but he truly just wants calm, predictable companionship and a comfy place to sleep. Max is crate trained, potty trained, and enjoys walks, though he takes the world in at his own pace. In the car, he rides best when he’s in a kennel — otherwise he likes to wander the cabin, which isn’t ideal for safety. Give him a secure spot, and he settles in just fine. His foster describes him as sweet, goofy, and incredibly loyal. He loves quiet couch time, bedtime snuggles, and being close to his person without any pressure to be “on.” If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted companion who wants nothing more than a calm home and a loving “boy mom,” Max may be the perfect match.

She’s the perfect mix of playful energy and independent charm, a lean, mean, adventure-loving machine who will keep you on your toes (literally). ⚡ Mac’s Highlights: Athletic & Adventurous: She can scale couches, tables, and anything else that looks like a fun challenge. Training is key, but it’s all part of her playful spirit. Independent But Friendly: She enjoys hanging near humans and other dogs, but she’s not a super cuddler — she likes to pick her moments. Dog & Kid Friendly: She’ll play nicely with pups and gently interact with kids once she’s comfortable. Leash Lover: Walks are her jam! She loves to pull ahead and explore. Kennel & Car Smart: Totally crate trained, and while she can be vocal at times, she settles down quickly. Car rides? Calm and observant. Sunshine & Fun: Loves outdoor time, playing, and soaking up the sun — she’s happiest when she’s active and free to explore. ✨ Personality Snapshot: Mac is the kind of girl who marches to her own beat — a playful, adventurous, and independent spirit who thrives with a family that can match her energy and let her shine. She’s not needy, she’s not clingy, she’s just Mac: a confident, athletic tomboy ready for her forever home.

Story
💛 Meet Gizmo — 13-Year-Old Pug, Gentle Soul, and Professional Shadow 💛 Gizmo is a sweet senior gentleman who recently found his way to safety after being discovered wandering near neighborhood recycling bins. Lost, dehydrated, and struggling with his mobility, this 13-year-old pug is now safe, cared for, and finally getting the comfort he deserves. Gizmo is a neutered male pug, beige in color, and easy to identify thanks to his endearing quirks: he is blind in one eye and partially deaf, but his heart is wide open and full of love. Despite everything he’s been through, he is incredibly sweet, calm, and social with people and other dogs. He eats and drinks well, takes treats gently, and enjoys being around his humans. In fact, he loves closeness so much that he has a bit of attachment anxiety — he’s a classic “little shadow” who follows his person wherever they go. After being lost and alone, it’s no surprise he finds comfort in staying nearby. Gizmo does have weak hind legs and some coordination issues, common for seniors but still worth exploring with a vet to determine if it’s arthritis, injury, or neurological. Even so, he gets around, enjoys companionship, and is potty trained. This resilient boy is microchipped, though attempts to contact the registered owner were unsuccessful. What matters now is that Gizmo is safe, loved, and ready to start his next chapter. Gizmo would thrive in a quiet, gentle home that welcomes his need for closeness and offers soft beds, slow-paced days, and lots of reassurance. He’s a tender little heart who has been through more than he can say — and he’s ready to feel secure again. If you have room in your home and heart for a loyal senior companion, Gizmo will adore you every single day. 💛
