BUMPHREY HOGART ❤️
Bumphrey Hogart has never met a stranger, missed an opportunity to make someone laugh, or questioned whether he belongs in the middle of absolutely everything. 😂🐾
We rescued him from euthanasia, and he has apparently decided to repay us by providing unlimited free entertainment.
This is Bumphrey Hogart. Approximately 100 pounds of personality packed into a 35-pound dog. ❤️
We suspect he's part pug, thanks to that ridiculously adorable face, but whatever his DNA says, one thing is absolutely certain: This dog is a SERIOUSLY good time.

Bumphrey's story started at a local high-kill shelter, where he was known as Humphrey. He quickly became a staff favorite, and it's not hard to understand why. He's funny, outgoing, affectionate, and has the kind of personality that makes it impossible not to love him.
Unfortunately, being a staff favorite doesn't guarantee your safety in an overcrowded shelter. Bumphrey received several extensions because the staff adored him, but eventually, there were no more extensions to give. His time was up.
We got him out just in the nick of time. And boy, are we glad we did. ❤️
When he left the shelter, we decided that Humphrey needed a fresh start, complete with a name that was every bit as ridiculous and larger-than-life as he is.
And thus, Bumphrey Hogart was born. 😂
Now, let's talk about life with Bumphrey.
This guy is an ADVENTURER. We think he'd make an excellent hiking buddy, road-trip companion, or partner for just about any outdoor activity. He's the perfect size to take along for the ride, and we suspect he'd be a blast at the dog beach or even on a paddleboard.
And speaking of water, we recently made a rather hilarious discovery.
On a particularly hot day, Bumphrey was hanging out in his foster family's backyard when he approached a very large water bowl.
Rather than drinking from it like a normal dog, Bumphrey positioned himself directly over the bowl and very slowly began lowering his rear end until his, ahem, golf balls were dangling in the cool water. 🏀🏀💦
He stood there for several minutes, apparently contemplating the extraordinary luxury of his new discovery.
Eventually, he decided that cooling off just the family jewels wasn't quite enough.
So he climbed into the water bowl, curled his entire 35-pound body into a little ball, and settled in for a nice, relaxing soak. 😂😂😂
THAT is Bumphrey Hogart.
He's the dog who will keep you laughing, whether you're out exploring the world or just hanging out in your backyard.
But here's the really wonderful thing about Bumphrey: For all his big personality and enthusiasm for life, he's also an incredibly loving, affectionate little guy.
After a day of adventures, his idea of heaven is curling up next to you on the couch, gazing lovingly into your eyes while you gently rub his ears. He absolutely lives for that kind of affection.
Adventure by day. Professional snuggle buddy by night. ❤️
Now, we'd be doing Bumphrey a disservice if we pretended he was a perfectly polished gentleman.
He's not. Yet. 😂
Bumphrey has young-dog energy, a little stubborn streak, and what appears to be very little previous training. We're working on basic manners, including the important social lesson that humping your new dog friends is not an acceptable way to introduce yourself.
He's doing great with crate training, and his potty training is still a work in progress. He's smart, eager to engage, and learning what it means to have people who are actually invested in helping him succeed.
He's also great with other dogs, although his enthusiasm sometimes gets ahead of his etiquette.
And honestly? We kind of love his gumption.
We suspect that same stubborn determination is part of what made him such a shelter favorite. Bumphrey is a dog who simply refuses to give up. No matter what life has thrown at him, he keeps showing up, wagging his tail, making friends, and finding reasons to be happy.
Quit is simply not in this dog's vocabulary.
We don't know much about Bumphrey's life before the shelter, but we suspect he hasn't always had the consistency, guidance, and dedication that every dog deserves.
And yet, here he is. Still trusting people. Still giving affection freely. Still approaching every new day like it's going to be the best one yet.
There's something pretty special about that. ❤️
Bumphrey doesn't need someone who expects perfection on day one. He needs someone who appreciates his wonderful personality, can laugh at his occasional ridiculousness, and is willing to give him the structure and consistency to become the very best version of himself.
Because underneath all that comedy is a genuinely sweet, loving, beautifully balanced dog with SO much to offer.
We think that with a little patience and dedication, Bumphrey Hogart is going to be an absolutely extraordinary companion.
And we can promise you one thing: Life with Bumphrey will never be boring. 😂❤️
