Ontario is currently located at our Everyday Adoption Center in Westminster (10460 Town Center Dr, Westminster, CO, 80021) and can be visited from 10am-6pm Sat/Sun and 12pm-7pm Mon-Fri! Email our Everyday Adoption Center team at EAC@savinganimalstoday.org for more information! Hello there! My name is Ontario! I am named after one of the great Canadian provinces. However my size does not reflect that name necessarily. I am a cute little guy weighing in at around 10 lbs! Although my exterior may be small, I have a HUGE heart. I absolutely LOVE cuddles and adore having all the attention possible. I enjoy resting my head on your lap while you baby talk and cuddle me! I do enjoy dog friends too but my people are where it's at! Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? Me neither. I've heard it's really loud though!

Story
Hi, I’m Paisley. I’m a sweet 2-year-old Pug who was saved from euthanasia in New Mexico, and I’m getting ready for my second chance at a happy life. I’m good with other dogs and kids, and I’m likely good with cats, too. I’m also housetrained and ready to settle into a loving home where I can finally feel safe, cared for, and part of a family. I’ll be arriving in about 3 weeks, and I’m hoping my forever family is out there waiting for me. I’ve been given a second chance, and all I need now is someone willing to make me part of their family. Could you be my happily-ever-after?

Story
Tessa is a cute as can be Pug / Chihuahua mix. Tessa is between 2 and 3 years old and weighs 14 lbs. This poor girl has had a rough start and is finally learning what it's like to be loved and cared for, and her personality is shining!!! Tessa was found on the streets of New Mexico, and clearly was starving and way too skinny. She then ended up in a high-kill shelter, where we rescued her from. Now she has made her way to Colorado and is in a loving foster home, figuring out that life can be good! Tessa finds comfort in other dogs, so we are requiring that she go to a home with another friendly dog. She absolutely loves to play and toys are one of her favorite things! From Tessa's foster: * * * * Tessa is about as close to perfect as a pup can be!!! This beautiful little girl will quickly fit into a loving environment. She was a bit shy the first few days, but has totally blossomed! She has become very sociable and would be best having a dog buddy who is happy and playful. Tessa has perfect social skills and is submissive with other dogs. Her goal in life is to be loved, to sleep in a soft, comfortable bed, preferably with her human(s), and to play. Tess gets along great with people and animals. She loves to run huge zoomies in the park with a buddy or newly found friend. She is never aggressive, even if another dog bullies her. She is just so happy and easy going! Tessa needs a home with another dog. She doesn't like being left fully alone, but as long as she is home with my dogs she is totally content while I am at work. She is gaining confidence more and more every day through much love, support, security, and encouragement. I don't believe she's been someones special baby but she sure wants to be! Tess is now potty trained! She hasn't taken to pad training as an option when Im away so will need to get outside when needed. So would do best with someone who works from home or is retired. She is soft, sweet, incredibly loving and huggable. Tessa melts into your arms and will even let you cradle her like a baby. She looks into your eyes and just asks for your love. Tess has clearly had pups, which has given her the gentle mom temperament. She's now learning that she gets to just be Tessa without having to take care of babies. She may never have had the chance to be baby. Tessa plays like a puppy and absolutely loves to be silly. She didn't have that sense of silliness when she arrived but is now in happiness mode, playing with toys, and asking my dogs to play with her. She loves to eat. Her teeth are small and she needs food/treats for small breed dogs. Tessa is an angel girl and will be your best friend for life. She deserves a wonderful, loving home. * * * * Since Tessa is just a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Tessa will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a dog's ultimate behavior and in her relationship and bonding with her people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Tessa out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person trainers in your area. We're open to Tessa finding her forever home with dog-crazy retirees with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart young dog. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a dog that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Tessa enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Tessa will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She will also be spayed to stay true to our hopes for a euthanasia - free future in the canine population. If interested in this sweet as can be best friend, applications are currently being accepted. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Tessa, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Meet Honey & Hazel! These two adorable little ladies are a bonded pair looking for their forever home together. Honey and Hazel are both 3 year old, 15 and 14 pound Pug / Chihuahua mixes. (Although Honey looks a bit more like a Puggle, while Hazel looks more like a Chihuahua/Pug mix). These two are sisters in the sense that they live together and always have, but we think they may actually be related sisters. Honey and Hazel were surrendered to our partner shelter in New Mexico when their owner was no longer able to care for them due to changes in her life. Their previous owner told the shelter that these girls are bonded and have been together since they were puppies. Knowing that, we simply could not imagine separating them. They have spent their entire lives together, and we believe they deserve to start this next chapter side by side. They are both wonderful with other dogs, too, so they are happy to have a home with another dog friend in addition to each other. From Honey and Hazel's foster: * * * * "These girls are soooooo sweet and fun and so easy to care for!! Honey is the immediate socialite. She's a little potato loaf of love and joy and loves a good snuggle and play, especially when on little adventures. She has a classic pug personality. Hazel starts off a bit more shy, but after day 1 her personality came right out and she is so silly and sweet too! She LOVES cuddles and kisses. She is so loving. They are both potty trained! Both dogs are great with the whole family, from my 8 yo to my tall husband. They are emotionally well-regulated as a duo and are very comfortable with going into their crate. They have not yet tried to jump on furniture (Honey may be too pudgy for that anyway and Hazel prefers to stick with her sis). They gladly rest in their crate on their own when they want to lay down. While they have a lot of zeal for life, they are also well-suited for indoor/small space living. They are my little shadows in the house during chores and can also easily chill. They are a very sweet and gentle pair who would make a great companion duo for someone. I’ll send more pictures over the next few days." * * * * We know that adopting two dogs might sound like twice the work, but with Honey and Hazel, we really think two can be easier than one! They already have each other for companionship, playtime, and comfort. They keep each other company when you're busy, and they come with twice the love and twice the adorable Pug-like faces! These sweet girls have a ticket to Colorado and are ready for a fresh start. They have already lost the home they've known their entire lives, and we are determined to make sure they don't have to lose each other, too. Honey and Hazel are looking for a loving home where they can stay together forever. If you've ever considered adopting two dogs, this might be the perfect pair to prove that two really can be easier than one! Farfel's Rescue and our New Mexico rescue partners would love to see Honey and Hazel in a home with someone who works from home or is retired. We'd hate to see them left alone all day while their family works full-time outside of the home, as they are much too social for that type of arrangement. We feel that an excellent placement for Honey and Hazel is in a home where they'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and of course, nothing but love. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving training choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Honey and Hazel are both up to date on their vaccinations, have been fully vetted, are in excellent health, heart worm negative, and have been spayed. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pair. Story
** If you are interested in adopting Kylie, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Kylie! Kylie is a 1 year old, 11 pound, Chihuahua / Pug mix. She was found as a stray in Carlsbad, New Mexico so we don't have much background or know where this sweet girl came from. What we do know is that she is a very friendly girl! Kylie did well in the shelter and is acclimating in her "halfway house" before she transports to Colorado. Kyle is friendly and great with other dogs. We'd like to place Kylie in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Kylie is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out 400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com.
