Mikey is an adorable little Pug / Boston Terrier mix. He is 1 year old, and just 13 lbs. Mikey was found walking down a street in Carlsbad, NM and brought into a small shelter as a stray. Now Mikey has a ticket to Colorado to come start fresh! From Mikey's foster: "Mikey is the sweetest little thing!! He gets a bit timid when we go on walks, but his confidence is building every day and when we are at home he is totally happy and playful!" Farfel's Rescue and our Texas rescue partners would love to see Mikey in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see him left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home, as he is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Mikey in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Mikey has been fully vetted, and he is in great health, up to date on his shots, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Hello! My name is Flounder. I am small, quiet, fast (take a look at the video of me running) and shy. I have the most adorable-looking face, especially with my underbite. My foster mom says my best quality is how sweet I am. I love to sit in her lap while she watches tv or works on her computer. I also love being scratched behind my ear and on my belly. Haha... I will make it easy on you by rolling on my back exposing my belly so you can rub it for me. I walk well on a leash and will stay in my crate at night, if you need me to; although, I prefer sleeping close to my humans. I am housetrained and will let you know when I need to go outside. (Although, I did have a couple of accidents when I first arrived at my foster home.) I also travel well in the car, so if you like to go places, I sure would love sharing your adventures with you. My foster parents say that I am such a great addition to their home because I am so easy-going. I get along well with my foster siblings… a large Pittie mix, a medium Shepherd mix and a very bossy Chihuahua mix. I love to eat, but I am not overly possessive of my food. Also, I love running around the backyard. Each day I wake up feeling so lucky to be alive. I have so much love to give and want to be able to share my love with you.
