Story
Pepper was born Oct 2025. He is very lovable with adults, however, with he nips kids because he constantly wants to play. He is high energy. I got him a companion to help solve the issue and while that worked at first, now he is displaying behavior that is too concerning. He pulls her across the room by her tail, grabs her by the throat and slams into her while running at high speed. He is trained to go on pee pads and outside. He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. He can be ok with the cat but has also ran and slammed into her ribs. I love him dearly but he has to be supervised at all times unless it is just him and I. I am an experienced dog owner with much training over the years and I just cannot correct these behaviors so I am hoping to be able to find in an adult only household where everyone is happy.

Cuteness overload warning!! Have you ever seen puppies as cute as these babies? Born May 3rd – Adin, Calix and Enver are part shihtzu, pug and dachshund mix. All 3 of these adorable pups are males and weigh approximately 3.5 lbs They were born in the South Texas area, along the Texas/Mexico border and were surrendered to us 2 weeks ago as the owners could no longer keep them. Adin, Calix and Enver are the happiest puppies! They LOVE to be around humans and please anyone they are around. They are super duper playful and get the cutest butt wiggles ever. Their butts go completely to the side when they’re excited. These 3 boys love their toys and, they love to cuddle and love just life itself. They are VERY well socialized and if someone breaks in, will do absolutely nothing to stop the burglars besides maybe wag their tails and ask for treats and pets. They are VERY foot motivated and love all food and treats passed their way. They are still just young babies so please understand they will need training, exercise (as much as their little bodies can handle), patience and lots of love and care to offer these innocent puppies. Any family would hit the jackpot to welcome one or two of these babies into your home. These puppies are current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. We think Meredith is a Puggle mixed with an adorable bully breed. Basically… the recipe for maximum cuteness and fun. ‍ This adorable tiny low riding gal has the thick little trunk, a snooshy wrinkly face, and the cutest stubby legs. She’s truly one of those dogs that makes everyone stop and say “oh my gosh she’s so cute.”   Meredith is crate trained and absolutely loves other dogs. She’s active, busy, and FULL of personality and charm, so she’s looking for a home that can match her fun, boisterous energy. She would thrive with people who enjoy an active pup and maybe even another dog to play with. OTHER PETS: Bertha is not intersted in other dogs, she becomes nervous and avoids ongoing interaction or chooses to ignore others and do her own thing when out in the world on a leash. Bertha would enjoy being an only dog but we are open to the possibility that she may enjoy living with dog(s) of similar independence. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Bertha is VERY sensitive to heat, she will have seizures if her body temp gets too high. While vigilance is the best prevention, this is a high stress world and sometimes things go sideways. Bertha's best fit would be with someone who has experience with positive reinforcement, and caring for a dog with a medical issue that can be scary. [Very Experienced] GROOMING: [Minimal]KIDS: Bertha is comfortable with most handling and interacting but has engaged in mild resource guarding with high value possessions like bones or jerky and could resource guard food at mealtime. Removing items from any dog can be risky even without signs of resource guarding, but when a dog resource guards prized possessions the safest thing to do is 'trade up' with an item of equal or higher value. This helps build confidence around favorite itmes while keeping everyone safe. We want Bertha to be set up for success so her human family members should be old enough to understand how to interact with her safely. [15+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Bertha is an independent girl who enjoys relaxing and exploring when it isn't too hot outside; she is comfortable interacting with humans but hasn't been very playful while at TJO. Bertha enjoys time outside but needs to be monitored closely to ensure she does not overheat - enthusiasm around toys can be developed, a combination of regular/appropriate exercise and mental enrichment such as food puzzles, scent games, and new tricks will help meet her needs. [Couch Potato] VETERINARY CARE: Brachycephalic dogs have a greater likelihood of developing breathing difficulties over the course of their life, they are also more apt to overheat in hot weather and are prone to eye infections. **Bertha is very sensitive to heat, she will have seizures if she is not kept in an air conditioned environment during high temperatures** Care needs to be taken to ensure that their wrinkles are cleaned, neglected wrinkles can become irritated or infected, and skin irritation spreads quickly throughout their body. A strong relationship with a vet is recommended to ensure that Bertha ages gracefully. [Above Average / Intense]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Bertha bond with her new owner, build confidence, and learn new skills and fun tricks.
