Story
Teddy is a 3‑year‑old, 20‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a tender heart, a shy soul, and a deep love for being close to his people!   Quick Facts: Name: Teddy Breed: Pug/Chihuahua Mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 20 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! (He uses pee pads but does have an occasional accident) Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, but open to a meet and greet Good with Kids: Yes (only older, respectful kids who are calm and patient with him) Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: No, but Teddy loves exploring the yard, so a fence is preferred! Dog's Location: Holly Springs, NC Special Note: Teddy does have separation anxiety and would love to find a family who is home more often than not, or can take him with them on their outings!   About Teddy’s Breed: Our best guess is that Teddy is a Pug/Chihuahua mixed breed. Pug/Chihuahua mixes — often called Chug dogs — are bright, affectionate little companions who blend the Pug’s cuddly, people‑loving nature with the Chihuahua’s alert, sensitive personality. They’re expressive, loyal, and happiest when they feel connected to their humans. Many are playful and charming, but also prone to timidity or anxiety if they haven’t had consistent reassurance in their early life.   Their ideal home is one that offers steady companionship, gentle handling, and a calm, patient environment. These mixes thrive with families who are home often, enjoy including their dog in daily routines, and understand that sensitive pups need time to warm up. They do best with people who can provide structure, positive reinforcement, and lots of affection. With a loving, attentive household, Pug/Chihuahua mixes blossom into devoted, snuggly, joyful little shadows who simply want to feel safe and adored.   What to Love about Teddy: Once he feels safe, Teddy becomes the sweetest little shadow — happiest snuggled beside you, following you from room to room, or running joyfully around the yard! He is timid at first and may growl or bark when meeting new people or when someone re‑enters a room, but with slow introductions, patience, and gentle reassurance, he warms up beautifully. He truly just needs someone who understands anxious dogs and will give him the time he needs to feel brave.   Teddy prefers a home where his humans are around often or will include him in their daily adventures — he struggles with being left alone, even with other dogs, and doesn’t enjoy being crated. He gets along with the resident dogs in his foster home but mostly chooses to be near his people. He walks nicely in the neighborhood, hasn’t met cats yet, and is open to a meet‑and‑greet. Teddy is working on his potty training, uses pee pads, and may have occasional accidents. He’s not destructive, though he may jump or knock things over when anxious, so crating is only needed in spaces with breakable items.   A fenced yard would be a bonus for Teddy since he loves the freedom to run and explore! His happiest place is right next to his humans, soaking up affection and feeling secure. With a patient, loving family — ideally one familiar with anxious pups or with older children — Teddy will blossom into the devoted, snuggly little companion he’s meant to be!   Teddy’s Top Highlights: 3‑year‑old, 20‑lb Pug/Chihuahua mix with a sweet, sensitive soul Deeply people‑oriented — happiest when he’s with his humans, not alone Timid at first and may growl or bark initially, but warms up with patience Best with older kids or families experienced with anxious pups Gets along with small dogs but prefers human companionship over dog play Working on potty training — uses pee pads and may have occasional accidents Does not do well crated or left alone — needs a home where someone is around often Enjoys yard time and would love a fenced space to run and explore Good on neighborhood walks and open to meeting cats with a proper introduction A devoted snuggle buddy who just wants to feel safe, loved, and close to his people   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Junie is a sweet and affectionate girl with personality to spare. She currently weighs about 12 pounds and will likely stay small - maybe around 20 pounds. While she is mostly black with a white stripe down her neck and chest, she has subtle markings in shades of brown that almost look brindle. She is a beauty! Her favorite things to do include playing nicely with toys, running around outside, and snuggling inside with someone for a nap. While she does love sitting with people and being held, she also does very well on her own. She is crate trained and will hop in her crate without protest when it is time for a rest. Overnight she is often able to keep her crate clean and dry, and she is doing very well with her housetraining during the day. She has learned how to use a dog door but still needs help remembering to go outside for bathroom breaks since she is 4 months old. Junie loves people and other dogs, but she hasn't been around cats or small children yet. Since she is curious and loves just about everything, we feel Junie is very adaptable to many different settings. If you want a smart little girl that loves to play as well as snuggle, whose ears are so big and soft that they flip inside out when she runs, Junie could be the perfect one for you!

Story
Meet Monroe! This little sweetheart has had a tough start but she has that pug-nacious attitude and is determined to make the best of things. She is currently around 10 pounds and 12 weeks old. Best guess is she will stay a very nice petite 15-20 pounds. Monroe is recovering from an eye injury and the treatment required. She is showing no signs of being nervous or guarded. She loves playing outside but would probably also do well in an apartment with outdoor playtime on the daily schedule. She is a great cuddler and couch companion. She is respectful and interested in the two larger foster dogs. No known experience with cats, but we expect she would adapt well. She is making good progress in house training and crate training is going well, staying crated mostly quietly through the night. She likes her people but does not get overly upset when on her own. If you have a spot in your home for a gutsy little girl, she may be the one you’ve been looking for.

Story
Snookie is a 10 yr old black pug mix who has found herself needing a new home. She was rescued from the Richmond SPCA about 5/6 years ago after her owners had passed and unfortunately, has found herself in the same situation. She is spayed, UTD on shots and currently on Heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick medication. She is a total love bug who impatiently waits for you to sit down on the couch or chair so she can snuggle up as close as possible for some back rubs. She loves to sleep in the bed with you as well and prefers to be under the covers. Car rides and short walks are a fav and she does very well on a leash. She is house trained, crate trained, and her foster mom is currently working on helping her lose a few pounds to make life easier on her.
