Story
Lola is the equivalent of a clown cars trunk, full of the fun stuff! Take cartoonish features, add four squeaky toys, a bouncy ball, at least one crinkle toy, and a pogo stick… and somehow turn it into a 20 lb dog. That is Lola! She is estimated to be around a year old and looks very much like a pug/boxer mix, though rescue rules absolutely apply and we cannot guarantee either. What we can guarantee is that Lola arrives preloaded with comedy, athleticism, and a level of enthusiasm that rivals a sugared up kid about to get on their first carnival ride. Go watch Lola on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this zoomie-powered party goblin. https://youtu.be/Lmiv_G04_1w Lola is wildly entertaining and genuinely a very happy dog. She loves fetch with her whole entire being, though we would currently rank her return skills at approximately 97% mastery because once she gets the toy, she can easily forget who threw it and occasionally what the next step is to get someone to throw it again. She absolutely thrives with playful dogs that enjoy chase games, wrestling, and rough-and-tumble antics. She is an absolute toy lover, easily self-entertains, and wakes up every day ready to turn life into recess. Lola would likely thrive with someone who genuinely enjoys training and wants an active sidekick to pour into. Think adventure buddy, hiking pal, training class enthusiast, enrichment queen, “let’s work your brain and body” kind of home. She is the kind of dog that will be incredibly rewarding in the right hands. She handles environmental stressors well, recovers quickly, and remains social and confident with people always. She is loving, goofy, resilient, and very game for whatever comes next. Lola’s dream home includes an equally playful dog who enjoys chase, shares toys, and enjoys the occasional playful wrestling match. This dream home will be cat-free and she would like to pass on apartment living, the girl wants room to run! More than one playmate is welcome as long as they are sturdy, playful dogs over 25 lbs that enjoy physical play, have good tolerance levels, and know how to take breaks. Because Lola is young and driven she will benefit from a structured home committed to helping her learn how to “dog-well.” She is learning how to settle in the home and will need encouragement to slow her busy brain down in exciting environments. The encouraging part is that she responds well to guidance and is very responsive to appropriate corrections. We love Lola! From her mini-boxer look to that pug-like tail, she is one-of-a-kind gal ready and waiting for her forever! Ready to make the first move? Story
She is tiny. She is happy. She is absolutely full of personality! This is Beanie Baby! You just found the kind of little dog who brings a whole lot of life in a petite package. She’s estimated to be just shy of a year old and weighs just 22 lbs. While she might be a pug/terrier mix, rescue rules apply, so her exact blend is anyone’s guess. Breed doesn't matter though, you can see she is adorable and has that bright, joyful energy that makes her easy to love right away. See for yourself! Go watch Beanie Baby on YouTube and then come right back to read more. Seeing her bounce between playful and cuddly in real time really tells her story best. https://youtu.be/3sVWSTxmT5I One quick note you may notice in her video or photos. Beanie Baby previously had a visible cherry eye, which has since been corrected. It was purely cosmetic and never caused her pain, and now it’s been taken care of. Beanie Baby greets the world like it’s full of friends she just hasn’t met yet. She is open, affectionate, and sweet with new people, and while she does have that fun, energetic puppy spark, she also knows how to settle in and enjoy a good cuddle when the moment calls for it. She has such a nice balance. Play hard, then happily curl up close. Outside she’s confident and curious without being clingy. She’ll wander, explore, check things out, and make her rounds with an easygoing independence, then circle back in for some love. She is friendly with both people and dogs, showing the same happy, social approach without any tension or hesitation. She also has the beginnings of a fetch career… once she figures out the “bring it back” part, she’ll be unstoppable. That and maybe having a ball small enough to fit in her mouth. With other animals, she continues to shine. She is fostered in a home with a small dog and a similar age/size dog. Her foster shares that she is an enthusiastic playmate and has had zero issues. No jealousy, no tension, just a happy girl who likes to play and is happy when attention turns her way. When it comes to cats, she did beautifully. We introduced her to our house cat and she was excited to meet him but remained respectful and cautious with the perfect touch of curiosity. She gave him space, checked in politely, and coexisted without any stress. We see all the qualities of a dog that would be a great fit for a home with a cat. Beanie Baby is the kind of dog who could fit into a lot of different lifestyles. She’s small enough for apartment living, social enough for multi-pet homes, and has that adaptable, happy nature that makes transitions feel easy. She’s just a really good, really lovable little dog. If you’ve been looking for a pint-sized companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Beanie Baby is ready to make herself right at home. Apply today and welcome your favorite sidekick home! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69d3f72833e0b08f0207f06c Questions? Story
Meet Felicia Female DOB: May 23, 2021 Weight: 15 pounds (small) Breed: Pug Spayed (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Felicia is a happy, loving little girl with a sweet personality and a heart full of affection. She enjoys being around people, soaking up attention, and spending time close to her humans. She has the classic loving Pug personality that makes the breed so adored — affectionate, companion-oriented, and full of charm. Felicia has beautifully matured into a wonderful companion who enjoys both relaxing and being included in everyday life. Whether she is lounging beside you, following you around the house, or joining you for short walks and outings, she simply loves being near her people. As a Pug, Felicia may show traits such as: A loving, people-oriented personality Strong emotional bonds with family Playful but companion-focused energy Social and affectionate behavior Pugs are known for thriving when they are included as part of the family and given lots of love and companionship. Felicia would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily companionship and affection Moderate exercise and walks Routine and consistency A loving indoor environment Because Pugs are a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, they can be more sensitive to heat and overexertion, especially in warmer climates. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Felicia will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Patience during adjustment periods Continued socialization and engagement Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Felicia will need: Daily companionship and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of her breed, special attention should also be given to: Monitoring breathing and overheating Maintaining a healthy weight Skin fold and dental care Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life. Felicia is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
