Story
Potluck brings the ultimate warmth to every gathering, proving that the best things in life are meant to be shared. This compact, short-statured boy is the canine equivalent of a comforting, home-cooked meal with your favorite friends—he is all about bringing people together in a quiet, cozy space. He sports a beautiful tan coat with a charming white patch on his chest, soft floppy ears, and an incredibly expressive face that lights up when he starts to feel safe.Stepping out on the leash, he is already showing fantastic early signs of being house-trained and walks politely by your side, even when the big world feels a bit overwhelming. He is a gentle soul who simply needs a patient person to go slow and give him the time he deserves to settle in. Once he knows he is secure, his sweet nature shines through, and he will happily step forward to offer a warm hello. Potluck has so much love to give and is actively looking for a trusted partner to help him decompress, build confidence, and blossom at his own pace. If you are ready to be the hero who turns his world around, please reach out to our team today to get connected and quickly start your fostering or adoption journey.

Story
Pasey is a sweet, playful pup who is learning how to interact with people after coming from a hoarding case of over 30 dogs.Is he nervous? Yep.Does the poor guy shake in his kennel and hide in the corner when people try to come up to him? Also yes.But when you take him to a yard, he immediately gets zoomies and hops around like a bunny. He is starting to let his best friends show him a little affection in the form of pets. If his best volunteer friend runs around the yard, he joins in on the fun. When you try to leave the play yard he comes right up to the gate to go with you. During kennel return this guy likes to get near his handlers when they try to leave. This poor guy has given us every indication that he wants to learn how to be loved, he just needs a family that will give him a chance to learn how to do that. This sweet soul is neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to go into a home today and finally get the chance to experience true love. Story
Zooey Deschanel is our quirky, cuddly, rom-com heroine of a dog — sweet, shy, and secretly hilarious once she feels safe. She loves belly rubs, couch snuggles, and handing out kisses like she’s starring in her own feel-good montage. She’s housetrained, knows a few cute tricks, and if you ask her to “shake,” she may just play dead instead… very Zooey of her. Out of the shelter, Zooey softens quickly into the ultimate hangout buddy — affectionate, smart, and always ready to snooze on soft furnishings (bonus points if she can share the bed). She mutters like a tiny dinosaur, snores like a puggy princess, and appreciates cozy things like pajamas, cheese-wrapped meds, and warm places to nap. If you’re looking for a lovable land-hippo with big feelings, bigger snuggles, and leading-lady charm, Zooey Deschanel is ready for her good-life debut.

Story
AJ is a 9 year old male pug. He is very sweet natured and good with kids and other pets. He has had some issues in getting older with housetraining; he likes to go to the bathroom on "soft things", i.e. piles of clothes or anything on the floor such as that, but otherwise no behavioral issues. He loves nothing more than cuddling in your lap and snuggling. We are experiencing some hardships that just makes it too difficult to keep him, as much as it pains me to do so. Looking for a loving home who can give him the care and attention he deserves.

Meet sweet Finch. Finch is friendly and a little shy. Based upon her looks, we think that Finch has some Pug and Beagle in her. Finch has a sad "resting" face, but take her on a car ride and be amazed at her transformation! Finch is house trained and crate trained and is enjoying hanging out with her new four legged besties. We love watching Finch blossom as she gains confidence in knowing that she is on the way to a better, happier life. To meet Finch, fill out an application on our website at wimberleywagrescue.org. Don’t worry—there’s no obligation to adopt when you submit an application!

Story
Meet Squish Don't let her tiny size fool you—Squish has a heart that's bursting with love and enough personality to fill any room she walks into. At just 6 months old, this adorable little girl is full of life, curiosity, and puppy enthusiasm. Every day is a new adventure in Squish's world, and she's always ready to explore, learn, and make new friends. With her bright eyes, happy smile, and constantly wagging tail, she has a way of making everyone around her smile. Squish has just begun her journey in the Paws in Prison program, where she's already proving to be an eager student. Smart, attentive, and incredibly food- and praise-motivated, she's soaking up every lesson her inmate trainers teach her. From basic manners to confidence-building, she's well on her way to becoming an amazing companion. She loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is always ready for the next adventure—whether that's a walk around the neighborhood, a game in the backyard, or curling up beside you after a fun-filled day. Squish has the perfect combination of playful puppy energy and a loving, affectionate nature. If you're looking for a best friend who will make you laugh, keep you active, and love you with her whole heart, Squish is your girl. Squish is available for pre-adoption through the Paws in Prison program. Story
Sweet Amber is another Spindletop survivor from last summer's raid and seizure. They killed her friend Stella who was also boarded there. Amber is a special soul. She is a loving and wonderful companion. She is funny and squatty with her red satin-teen collar and will lay around all day if you let her. She loves watching tv with you and just being with humans. Amber is super trained, does down, leave it, off and walks wonderfully on lead. She is as charming and quirky as they come and a truly special dog. Amber, like all of the Animals First and Reunion Rescue dogs, is crate and house-trained, raw fed and homeopathically treated. We have a wonderful foster to adopt program and lifetime guarantee for all our dogs. Please contact doggirl1@earthlink.net to arrange a meet and greet with Amber at the Reunion Rescue No-Kill Refuge.   Visit Amber on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Help-Amber-and-Stella-abused-in-Houston/137819022958959?fref=tsMay 22, 2024, 5:48 am

Story
Welcome, Layla! Layla is proving that senior girls have so much love left to give. This sweet lady has settled beautifully into her foster home and is showing everyone just how easy she is to love. Layla is the definition of a laid-back companion. She loves attention, happily soaks up cuddles, and is happiest when shes close to her people. Whether shes napping the afternoon away in her foster dads home office or quietly relaxing nearby, Layla simply enjoys being part of the family. If she starts feeling left out, shell let you know with an adorable little demand bark because this girl believes no one should have to spend too much time alone! Shes also incredibly well-mannered. Layla is fully potty trained with zero accidents in her foster home, willingly goes into her crate, and is wonderful about sharing both food and toys. One of Laylas biggest highlights is just how social she is. She has been fantastic with both dogs and cats, making herself right at home with every furry friend shes met. Shes even started discovering the joy of toys, showing that this sweet senior still has a playful side waiting to shine. Because Layla truly thrives on companionship, we think shed be happiest in a home where someone is around much of the day. A retiree, someone who works from home, or anyone looking for a loyal shadow would be a wonderful match for this affectionate girl. Layla entered rescue alongside Macy, but we do not believe they are bonded and they are not required to be adopted together. If youre looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will happily keep you company through every nap, workday, and quiet evening at home, Layla may just be your perfect match! To see more of our dogs, please go to https://austinbulldogrescue.com to see who is available and to learn how to get involved with ABR.
