Meet Butkus....yep he is definitely not a shar pei. Call it a moment of weakness but seriously how could we let this guy get euthanized over some pretty breed specific medical issues which happen to be right up our alley in the shar pei world. Butkus might be the happiest boy ever. He loves everyone. His tail never stops wagging or what whatever you call that little nub.  Thank God he is cute and sweet because this guy is not the brightest bulb on the tree. So if you are the person who likes your dogs good looking and sweet and not concerned if they never figure out how to sit this is your guy! He loves car rides but so far is not a fan of walking but we are convinced with the help of Bertha he will realize how much he loves it. He is a good sized boy at 58lbs. He was seen by our vet yesterday and like Bertha did have decreased tear production in both eyes. He will need his cherry eyes addressed at time of surgery. Are you wondering what a shar pei rescue is doing with a pair of bulldogs...well so are we! It was a complete moment of weakness. Meet Bertha. This girl is as wide as she is tall but she has started her intermittent fasting, youtube ab videos and twice a day walks. This girl loves to walk so we are excited to see her waist line start to become visible This girl is great with people and other dogs. She did come in with her man Butkus but they do not need to be adopted together but we would love to see her go to a home with another dog. They had their first vet visit and honestly all their medical issues are pretty much identical to the medical problems we see with Shar Pei. Her tear production was reduced so we are going to assume she will need lifetime eye drops to replace that decreased tear production. Her skin was in great shape but did have an ear infection so an adopter that is familiar with weekly ear maintenance. She loves car rides and walks great on a leash. She is very friendly with all the dogs and people she meets on her daily walks.  She is fostering in Phoenix AZDecember 1, 2025, 3:01 pm

Sweet Amber is another Spindletop survivor from last summer's raid and seizure. They killed her friend Stella who was also boarded there. Amber is a special soul. She is a loving and wonderful companion. She is funny and squatty with her red satin-teen collar and will lay around all day if you let her. She loves watching tv with you and just being with humans. Amber is super trained, does down, leave it, off and walks wonderfully on lead. She is as charming and quirky as they come and a truly special dog. We are daily filled with shock and awe at the capacity for cruelty that humans have and the strength of spirit of our dogs, as well as their capacity to love. We'll spare you the broken record story that WAS Dovie's life.You can check her story out HERE. What matters now is that Dovie's now is filled with love, yummy snackos, scritches, and ALL the A/C.She has all the soft spots to rest, and she has nothing but love for everyone she meets. Her EPIC foster mama thinks her IDEAL home would match the following Dovie criteria: A single-family home with no stairs. She's totally fine if they work away from home. She's pretty chill and self-reliant. Cats are okay (she has had no reaction to them). She 100% needs someone who can keep up with her grooming daily (ideally an experienced bull family member or someone 100% willing to learn and stay in touch with our team for check-ups and check-ins). She's excellent at taking small, short walks (in her buggy, she says walking is for humans!). Dovie is fighting fit and showing us a little more of the silly, delicious girl she really is every day. She has truly blossomed into the sweetest soul. Every day her gentle, affectionate personality shines brighter - she's a loyal shadow and a total cuddle bug when it's time to unwind. Dudley was found as a stray in Phoenix AZ. He made it out of the shelter because his foster mom made room for him at her house! She is an angel and has nothing but great things to say about this boy. Honey (she goes by Dolce, but we have another dog also with that name) came from a home with far too many dogs that overwhelmed the owner. Honey is 43 pounds, is recently spayed and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Honey is being treated for an ear infection, and is on some high quality food and fish oil to clean up her skin. She is a typical female, who can get a little growly around strangers poking and prodding (not a fan of the vet but manageable), but has lived with other dogs and kids with no issues. Her coat is cleaning up slowly with good food and some antibiotics. She came to us with a pretty patchy coat. Honey is the princess, preferring inside to out (she is completely housetrained, but just doesn't want to hang out in the yard otherwise). She is quiet, not a big barker and likes to give kisses and hugs. Honey is fostering in the Indio, California area.
