Archie - Pug Mix - Male - 1.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Archie: This goofy little Pug mix was found abandoned alongside Ethel, who we think may be his sister and/or mate. ( Yes, that's icky, but Ethel looks like she has had pups before and they are same age according to Vet, so...). Archie is about 1.5 years old and scheduled to be neutered soon. He is friendly and affectionate, and on the scale of "some are pretty, some are smart" he falls on the prettier end of that scale. Ethel is clearly the brains of the operation. That means though that she is more likely to get in trouble (finding weaknesses in gates) and he will follow. Or she decides to bark at another dog and he will take over the louder barking. Archie loooves people and would love to be a lap dog. He can be nervous in new and unfamiliar situations and looks to Ethel to guide his reactions (she decides if something is safe and he goes with that). Once separated from each other, Archie looks to his handler for guidance, and make avoidance and retreat his first reaction. He is pretty food motivated and can be bribed, but he needs a somewhat patient handler to expose him safely to new situations. He is still learning to walk on leash, he is house trained and rides well in the car, getting in and out of a car aren't his favorites at the moment, but he is learning. Archie is looking for a home with or without another dog, family with kids is ok - he just wants to be included in day to day activities. He could handle regular working hours, but not as an only dog. If he were to be the only dog in the house, he would need someone home a lot, he would really like to explore life as a Lapdog. Ethel is about 1.5 yrs old and scheduled to be spayed soon. She is curious and affectionate and definitely the brains of the operation. She will figure out how to open/move gates to get to where/what she wants and Archie usually follows. They like to stick together, but a recent trial separation showed they are not bonded - Ethel is pretty independent and likes people. Ethel is nosey and curious, has opinions about most things and will bark/share those freely. She can be loud and vocal, but corrects easily, if only for a short time. Ethel is learning to walk on leash, rides well in the car and is house trained. Ethel is very smart, which is both great for learning new skills as well as problematic as she is more likely to get herself in trouble doing things she is not supposed to do when bored. Ethel is looking for a home with or without another dog in it - she likes attention and adventure. She is looking to be included in family daily activities, would love daily walks for reading the Pee-mail along the route. Hi I am Jake! My foster mom says that I love my stuffed toys and like to shake them around and play tug of war with them. I am crate trained and know the command "sit." My foster mom says that I am potty trained as long as I am contained in a smaller area rather than having run of the whole house. I still tend to try and mark if not supervised. I do have glaucoma which requires me to get an eye drop in each eye twice a day for the rest of my life. My foster mom says that I will do best in a home with small dogs. My foster mom says that I need supervision when in the yard. I do not like being left out by myself to go potty and I will let you know! A/C is my friend so believe me, I am an indoor loving dog! Meet the cutest boy in town -Dante! How this little guy ended up on the euthanasia list instead of cuddled up in someone’s lap we will never understand. Dante is PRECIOUS! And is loads of fun! He is the happiest little guy but does spook at some things that we are still trying to identify, welders are definitely scary but rightfully so. When he does spook just a little reassurance and the cutie is back. Dante was picked up as a stray by Harris County and fortunately we were able to get him just in time. He is an adorable steel gray pug mix with a sparkly white underbite, about 2 years old, weighs about 35 pounds. He is currently heartworm positive but Scout’s Honor will cover his treatment.
