Story
*Adoption fee sponsored by a generous volunteer! *Weight ~ 23 lbsPoppy recently spent two weeks in a dog-savvy foster home. They had much to say about her, but here is a quite summary: `Poppy is a bright, spirited, and incredibly charming girl with a playful personality and a quick, intelligent mind. She keeps things fun with her curiosity and sense of humor, and once she feels safe, her affectionate side really shines. Poppy forms strong bonds and enjoys being close to her person—on her own comfortable terms. She thrives with routine, structure, and mental enrichment, and she loves activities like structured play, sniffy walks, and learning new cues. Poppy does best in a calm, predictable home with an experienced adopter who understands sensitive dogs and uses patient, positive reinforcement. Busy environments can be overwhelming for her, and she benefits from clear boundaries and managed exposure to new situations.Poppy would be happiest in an adult-only home, ideally as an only dog, or with very careful introductions. With the right guidance and a low-stress lifestyle, she is a loyal, entertaining, and deeply rewarding companion.`If you are ready to experience the `successful project-dog` high, come meet Poppy, or call us to coordinate a meet and greet. We`re open Tue-Sun 11-5.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Loving heart and big personality!Meet Ally!  Ally is a 3-year-old Chihuahua with a sweet, loving heart and a big personality. She is happiest when she knows her people and feels safe in her environment. Once Ally trusts you, she is incredibly sweet and docile and absolutely loves to cuddle, snuggle, be held, and even be sung to. She is a wonderful lap dog who simply loves being loved. While Ally enjoys exploring the world, she does best in calmer environments. A busy beach, for example, would be too overwhelming for her right now. She is much more comfortable taking things at her own pace. Now that her puppy has found a forever home, Ally has been adjusting surprisingly well. She is settling into her environment, becoming more comfortable, and showing just how sweet and affectionate she can be. Ally's Ideal Home:  Ally would thrive with someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to respect her boundaries. She would be happiest as a cherished companion for one person or in a calm household where she can feel secure. She may do well with one other dog , preferably a submissive male who will respect her space and isn't likely to overwhelm her. Slow, thoughtful introductions would be important. Ally isn't the right match for someone looking for a carefree dog who loves every stranger and every dog she meets. But for the person who is willing to earn her trust, give her guidance, and let her experience new things at her own pace, Ally has so much love to give. She is sweet. She is cuddly. She is loyal. And when Ally decides you're her person, you'll have a devoted little shadow and the best lap dog you could ask for. ❤️ Ally is looking for someone patient enough to earn her trust—and lucky enough to receive all the love that comes with it. Story
Looks like: Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix Female, 9 years old (estimated), 12 pounds Named after the legendary Shelby Mustangs, this sweet girl is proof that great things come in compact packages. She may not have hundreds of horsepower under the hood, but she has plenty of charm, character, and classic good looks. Like any true classic, Shelby has a story, we just haven't learned all the chapters yet. She's new to the POMDR pack, so we're still getting to know what makes her tail wag, whether she's more of a leisurely Sunday cruiser or an adventurous road-trip companion. One thing is already clear: Shelby is ready to trade in life's rough roads for smooth cruising with a family of her own. After all, classics like her only become more valuable with time. Shelby came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being found as a stray.

Story
Luna is a happy 9 year old Rat Terrier who is currently staying at a board & train in Salinas Ca. She is crate trained, loves to run & play & is quite affectionate when she gets to know you. She gets along with other dogs(unless they are running directly at her)but is very happy to run & explore by herself. No cats or kids. The Board & Train where she is living is also a working farm & she is not bothered by most of the animals there. She knows some commands & loves to walk & hike. She’s very smart & learns quickly. Would probably love scent work & a little agility work.

Story
Dottie  is a very sweet, high-energy puppy-like young dog. We should have named her Rascal because she is a little Rascal. She loves to play, loves to go on walks, and explore. She is looking for a family that is up for a whirlwind adventure. Energy Level?  High  House-trained?  We are working on it Describe how they are on leash?  She is learning leash manners and catching on Describe how they are with other dogs?  Good with other dogs overall. She may be shy when meeting new dogs, but once she's comfortable, she enjoys playing. She can be protective of her food, so meals should be fed separately. She may also show reactivity when confined in her crate, but this typically subsides once she's out and has a chance to interact appropriately. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Limited exposure to cats so far, but she has done well with the interactions she's had. Based on her temperament, we think she may do well in a home with cats, but slow, supervised introductions are recommended. Commands they know?   She is learning to take treats gently and is making good progress. She hasn't mastered any basic cues and would benefit from positive reinforcement training. What are their favorite things?   Dottie loves to play, eat, enjoy treats, snuggle, and explore. She also loves her toys and is always happy to entertain herself with a favorite toy. What do they need to work on?   She will benefit from basic training to help her greet people politely without jumping, wait patiently instead of barking for treats or food, and finish her potty training. She also needs to learn that she doesn't need to guard or worry about sharing her food and toys. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and a little patience, Dottie has all the makings of a wonderful companion. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Dottie has been left a full workday with the resident dog and access through the doggie door, which she learned on the first day. Where do they sleep?  Dottie is crate trained; however, she has been sleeping in an xpen. What is their ideal home?   Dottie would do best with another playful dog who can match her energy and enjoy romping around with her. She is a very smart girl who will thrive with basic training and is likely to learn quickly. She will benefit from a family that is committed to working with her to help her feel safe and understand that no one is going to take her resources away, and who is up for puppy-proofing and working on mouthy puppy behaviors so they don't become lasting habits. Dottie is an active dog who would enjoy daily walks, playtime, and a securely fenced yard where she can run and explore. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate, has so much love to give, and will make an amazing companion.
