Story
Weight ~ 23 lbsPoppy recently spent two weeks in a dog-savvy foster home. They had much to say about her, but here is a quite summary: `Poppy is a bright, spirited, and incredibly charming girl with a playful personality and a quick, intelligent mind. She keeps things fun with her curiosity and sense of humor, and once she feels safe, her affectionate side really shines. Poppy forms strong bonds and enjoys being close to her person—on her own comfortable terms. She thrives with routine, structure, and mental enrichment, and she loves activities like structured play, sniffy walks, and learning new cues. Poppy does best in a calm, predictable home with an experienced adopter who understands sensitive dogs and uses patient, positive reinforcement. Busy environments can be overwhelming for her, and she benefits from clear boundaries and managed exposure to new situations.Poppy would be happiest in an adult-only home, ideally as an only dog, or with very careful introductions. With the right guidance and a low-stress lifestyle, she is a loyal, entertaining, and deeply rewarding companion.`If you are ready to experience the `successful project-dog` high, come meet Poppy, or call us to coordinate a meet and greet. We`re open Tue-Sun 11-5.

Story
If you’re looking for a mutt that is straight to the point and never strays from her objective, Dilly Dally may not be right for you – she thinks the journey is more important than the destination and often takes an (admittedly fun) detour! Miss Dilly Dally is the eldest of three siblings, and the other two have followed her to Muttville – you’re not seeing double (or triple!), there are, in fact, three beautiful brown and white darlings traipsing through HQ. This sweet senior has been an excellent big sister, but it’s tuckered her out – she now takes life at a more sedate pace. She would love to find a forever home where she can flourish in her golden years – do you have space to Dilly Dally? Here's some notes from her foster: Dilly Dally is very food oriented. She loves meal time and any snacks you may have to offer her! She absolutely loves to cuddling and be close to you, either by your side or in your lap.

Story
Cosette is about 2 years old and 13 pounds. Cosette earned the nickname “Cozy” because she truly embraces the art of slow mornings and long naps. She never pops out of bed without a full routine of big stretchies and sleepy squinty eyes. She sleeps deeply (with lots of adorable dreaming) and loves resting her chin on your leg.   Her personal motto might be 'sleep hard, play hard' because while she rarely uses her bark (I’ve only heard it during her dreams!), she becomes a happy little noise machine during playtime when her spicier side comes out. She absolutely loves squeaky toys — especially if she can manage to find the squeaker herself.   She is still working on her play manners and can become a little rough and overly nippy when she gets going, so she would do best in a home without young children. She responds well to calm, consistent correction and has already made progress. When very excited, stressed, or overwhelmed, she may want to hump you, but this behavior has *mostly* subsided with gentle verbal commands and as she’s gotten settled in.   Cosette loves other dogs and wants to greet every pup she sees. She would likely thrive in a home with a playful dog friend to help her burn off energy and continue building confidence.   Training-wise, she doesn’t seem to know basic cues like “sit” yet, but she’s attentive and eager to connect. She knows “no,” responds well to it, and has decent recall to kissy noises. She is fully house-trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home.   At her core, Cosette is a sweet, sensitive girl who wants to feel safe and connected. She’s looking for a loving home that will give her clear guidance, plenty of squeaky toys, lots of ear scratches, hopefully a pup friend to play with, and most importantly, a cozy spot right next to her person. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Cosette is $300. If you are interested in adopting Cosette, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. Story
Ernie.  Once Ernie gets to know you, he can be s weet and affectionate. He is very cautious with new people and needs slow introductions. Energy Level?  Low to Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash?  Ernie walks well on a leash and is non-reactive. Describe how they are with other dogs?   He generally ignores other dogs while on walks. At the shelter, he participated in playgroups and did well with other dogs. When he first arrived, he didn’t get along with the resident dog, but he’s been improving as he decompresses and relaxes. He could potentially live with other dogs with proper introductions and patience. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? Ignore cats we meet on walks (cats not moving); sometimes will chase a squirrel if it runs, but will continue walking easily. Commands they know?  He knows how to sit and down. What are their favorite things? Cuddles, kisses, go out for walks, and all kinds of food/treats What do they need to work on? Coping with stress - meeting new people, vet visits, visitors in the home, etc How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? He is fine being left alone. He is calm and generally sleeps when left alone.   Where do they sleep? His bed What is their ideal home?  He would do best in a calm, patient home with people who understand his needs and are willing to give him the time and space to build trust and confidence. A quieter environment, with fewer visitors, would help him feel more secure as he continues to adjust. Once he feels safe, he’ll show what a genuinely wonderful, loyal boy he is.   The Adoption fee is $325.   For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs , please complete our online adoption application at  www.everypetsdream.org/adopt .
