Meet Raven! Shes an adult dog around 20lbs who just arrived in our rescue 06/04 so still getting to know her Great with other dogs and kids! Have not cat tested yet She is a cautiously playful pup full of personality. She is curious about everything. She is very friendly after she scouts you out. She loves sniffing, scritches, and cuddles. She is a very food motivated and smart girl. She handles cleaning/handling of all her paws and teeth with no issues. She also has no reaction to loud noises like honking, ambulances, and firetrucks. She is good at crating and leash walking. All in all a very versatile girl, would be a great city dog or a farm dog. Story
Meet Ziggy! Previously named Bixby, now Ziggy, is a handsome, 4 year old, 27 lb Rat Terrier / Cattle Dog mix who has been through more in his life than any dog should. Ziggy was found as a stray and brought into a horrible, high-kill shelter in Houston TX. He was adopted locally, and then months later ended up back in the shelter as a stray again. When they called the man who adopted him from them just months ago, they got no answer and no call back. Ziggy’s past has clearly been unstable. We rescued Ziggy and brought him to Colorado with the hope of finally giving him the stable, loving home he has always deserved...and for a while, we truly thought we had found that for him. Unfortunately, just four months after his adoption, Ziggy is being returned due to a newly discovered allergy within the household. Our hearts break for Ziggy to have to go through this transition again, but he is back with our rescue and once more searching for the forever home he has been waiting for. From Ziggy's foster: * * * * "Ziggy really is a very good boy. He can be a bit shy at first with new people. But once he settles in, his personality really starts to shine. In a home environment, he is very affectionate, funny, and incredibly sweet. He loves cozy spots (especially the couch and bed!), enjoys watching the world from the window, and lives for his time outside in the yard, zooming around, playing with my dog, sunbathing, and chasing squirrels along the fence line. He’s a smart boy who already knows commands like “sit” and even how to catch treats mid-air. Ziggy has shown that he can be friendly and playful with other dogs in the right setting. Off leash and in a home environment, he has done well and even thrived — he was wonderful with a tiny puppy foster we had, and loves my dog. Ziggy just does not do well meeting other dogs while leashed, so he will need an adopter who understands leash management and can advocate for his space on walks. Because he does enjoy other dogs in a more natural setting, we do feel he would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help him feel more secure. Since neighborhood walks aren't ideal for Ziggy, he would be best going to a home with a big yard for him to play, exercise, and potty in. Because Ziggy has experienced so much instability and change in his life, he will cry or howl when left alone. Luckily though, he is not destructive in any way. Ziggy can be trusted loose in the home when left alone, has never chewed or damaged anything, and does settle with time. Due to his vocalizing when left alone, an apartment or shared-wall living situation would not be the best fit for Ziggy. Ziggy will thrive in a calm home with someone retired, or who is a homebody. He himself is much more of a homebody who bonds deeply with his people and prefers a predictable routine. Oh and he is totally, 100% potty trained!" * * * * Ziggy is in great health and is vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm tested. He is blind in just one eye due to what appears to be an old corneal scar, but it does not cause him pain and he navigates the world just fine with his good eye. Ziggy’s story hasn’t been easy, but his potential is huge. With the right person - someone patient, loving, dog-savvy, and committed to giving him the time, structure, and love he needs - Ziggy will thrive, and deeply bond with you. He doesn’t need perfection—he just needs someone who won’t give up on him. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Ziggy in a home with someone committed to training. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a sweet pup whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Ziggy out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Ziggy is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ziggy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.

Zeke is a quiet gentleman looking for a home to spend his golden years. He enjoys sunbathing, short leisurely walks and naps in a comfy bed. Zeke would be fine as an only pet or with one other dog his size. He needs a home with no children. He would love a yard to stroll in and enjoy the sunshine. Story
Meet Penguin Male DOB: May 19, 2023 Weight: 22 lbs Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Penguin is an outgoing, friendly little guy with a fun personality and a big zest for life packed into a small body. He loves being around people, enjoys interaction, and carries himself with the confident, entertaining energy Terrier lovers know and adore. He has matured beautifully into a lively companion who still enjoys playtime and activity while also loving affection and companionship from his humans. Penguin thrives when he feels included and part of the action. As a Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier mix, Penguin may show traits such as intelligence, curiosity, alertness, and playful energy. Both breeds are known for being highly engaging, clever little dogs who enjoy staying mentally and physically active. Penguin would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily walks and playtime Mental stimulation and engagement Structure and consistency Companionship and inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a social, entertaining, and affectionate dog with lots of personality. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Penguin will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Mental stimulation and routine Patience during adjustment periods Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Penguin will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and engagement Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Penguin is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
** If you are interested in adopting Pepper please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Pepper! Pepper is an adorable, 10 month old, 11lb Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mix (and while she may fill out just a tiny bit more, she's expected to stay a wonderfully portable size of around 11 - 13 lbs full grown). If you're looking for a best friend who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Pepper may be your perfect match. This precious little girl is as sweet as they come. She has such a gentle, affectionate personality. Pepper is incredibly friendly and has a warm, welcoming nature that makes her easy to fall in love with. She enjoys meeting new people and greets life with a happy, loving spirit. Her adorable face, expressive eyes, and charming personality tend to win over everyone she meets. Pepper gets along beautifully with other dogs and is in a foster home with a bigger dog. Pepper would enjoy having a playful dog companion in her forever home, though she would also be happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. She has a sweet social style and enjoys both playtime and simply hanging out with her dog buddies. From Pepper's foster: "Pepper is so so sweet! She's learning fast to potty outside and she's settling into the home great. She is a bit shy, but just needs like a day or 2 to really warm up. Once she warmed up she became playful! She loves to cuddle." Pepper's ideal home is one that will include her as a cherished member of the family. She would love daily walks, fun outings, cozy naps, and plenty of opportunities to shower her people with affection. Her small size makes her easy to bring along on adventures, and her loving personality makes her a joy to have by your side. We'd like to place Pepper in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Pepper is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out 400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
