Meet Mickey – A Shy-to-Snuggly Lap Lover Mickey is a 3-year-old Rat Terrier weighing 16 pounds, and he’s the perfect mix of gentle and affectionate. He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but he warms up quickly and then his loving personality really shines. Mickey is very food motivated and especially loves chicken and beef treats — the fastest way to win his heart. Once he feels comfortable, he’s all about affection. He adores being petted, seeks out lap time, and truly loves human contact. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will happily curl up with you and soak up attention, Mickey is ready to be your new best friend. ---------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
